After a recent landmark showcase at Harbour City in Hong Kong (covered), Tomokazu Matsuyama (interviewed) headed to Melbourne for his next project. Outside Looking In at Lesley Kehoe Galleries is the second exhibition in their Spring Series focusing on Japanese artists living and creating in New York, making Matzu a perfect choice, especially when considering the East meets West nature of his work. The show, which runs through October 25th, features a selection of Matsuyama’s colorful and kinetic paintings as well as sculptural works which demonstrate nicely his signature aesthetic of putting a modern twist on Japanese art from the Edo and Meiji eras.
