NYC street artist Gaia, along with Angry Woebots, Deseo, Dia, Scribe and Mr. Jago will be featured in “Re-up”, a new group show opening tonight at Gallery 1988SF. Gaia was kind enough to send us some process pictures of the woodblock and screenprints that he’ll be exhibiting. “Rhetorics of Peace” (featured above) is one of four animal prints that consist of Gaia’s contribution. He told AM recently that “the Animals are all derived from either biblical references or simply existential considerations. But those sources serve purely as the origin of the works and are only keyed towards those subjects subtly through the title. The intention was not to be as allegorical with this show and simply make some good prints.”
