Damien Hirst continues his attempt to paint as well as Rembrandt (easy according to him) with a solo show tonight at White Cube (both Hoxton Square and Mason’s Yard locations) in London. Barely a month after his opening at the Wallace Collection (in fact, show there continues until the end of January), the formaldehyde king returns with 19 new paintings. This body of work is heavy with omens and foreshadowings of death including crows, blood splatters, skeletal forms, skulls and empty chairs among other things and also shows Hirst’s continued love affair with triptychs.
