Here is a little taste of what’s to come as we look ahead to February. One of the highlights will be a two-person show of Stella Im Hultberg and Andrew Hem opening on the 13th at Roq La Rue.
Seen above is a shot of some works in progress from Stella’s studio. It’s hard to tell exactly, but looks as though she will be continuing her works on canvas. It will be interesting to see what she has in store as she is continuing to refine this technique.
Andrew Hem is an artist we have watching ever since we spotted his work in a little boba cafe (now defunct) in West LA a few years ago. This is the first body of work where we see a strong cohesive theme and consistency. This time around he was inspired by the cathedrals in Monet’s paintings seen on a backpacking trip through Europe as well as the struggles of Amerasian children left behind during various American wars… Hem’s work is maturing fast and we recommend taking a closer look.
