Earlier this week, we heralded the imminent release of James Jean’s (featured) Butterfly collection from his OVM line. It looks like his fans didn’t have to wait long as the entire selection of earrings, necklaces, rings, and bracelets have been made available as well as a matching scarf. With this continuing foray into fashion, the multi-talented Jean continues to push his artistic boundaries while maintaining the shapes, colors, imagery, and aesthetic to those familiar with his work. Releases: Aiko – “Lady Butterfly” Sculpture (Cherry)

You may remember last year when we told you about Aiko’s Lady Butterfly figure. The initial silver version drop on Valentine’s Day last year and subsequent black version release sold out rapidly, but in about an hour, this year’s V-day cherry version will be available here. If you remember, we previously reported on the limited edition and intricate Lady Butterfly sculpture (produced by Tomenosuke Sho-ten) from Aiko Nakagawa earlier this year. The initial silver colorway easily sold out on Valentine’s Day, but the newest black version (limited to 10 each) was released just hours ago 1.00pm (JST) on September 16th and retailed for $550 here. Releases: Aiko – “Lady Butterfly” Sculpture

Aiko Nakagawa just reported yesterday that her Lady Butterfly sculpture is nearing completion.  The complex piece produced by Tomenosuke Sho-ten requires assemblage of 13 little components and features elements of her iconic imagery. Inspired by her love for the Baroque sculptures she saw in Rome, Aiko describes her creation as “a fairy of the street… comes in the night and draws stories of love and romance with her spray paint.” Scheduled for release on Valentine’s Day, the limited figure will eventually be painted in five […]

Releases: James Jean x Suarez – Jewelry Collection

James Jean (interviewed) has always had a thing for jewelry (see OVM line) and high fashion (i.e. 3.1 Phillip Lim & Prada) To that end, the Los Angeles-based artist has collaborated on a new collection with Joyería Suárez (you may remember D*Face’s line with the Spanish brand back last year) featuring designs inspired by his artwork and palette. Streets: Life Is Beautiful 2019 (Las Vegas)

This year’s Life Is Beautiful arts and music festival (also see 2016, 2015, and 2014) once again collaborated with JUSTKIDS / Charlotte Dutoit on bringing more public art to downtown Las Vegas. The Guimet National Museum of Asian Arts (MNAAG) in Paris, home to the largest collection of Asian arts in Europe, recently gave carte blanche to a site-specific installation created by artist Mr.. and curated by Pharrell Williams. Located on the fourth-floor rotunda beneath the dome of the main building, Call to Action runs until September 23rd. André & Futura have joined forces for a unique collaborative show at Danysz Gallery in Paris with their signature pictorial characters.
