Setup / Preview: Faile Bast Deluxx Fluxx Arcade – NYC edition

Some of you may have heard rumblings about an upcoming Faile x Bast show coming to NYC.  We can finally confirm that it’s true.  Even better is that it’s a pop up show in the Lower East Side (LES) of the Big Apple.  Faile and Bast’s recent arcade show at London’s Lazarides (Rathbone Place) was so unique and popular that it got many US fans in a state of envy.  Originally conceived as a one-off show, Faile and Bast decided to create a brand new […]

Setup: Shepard Fairey Mural – “These Parties Disgust Me” for Deitch Projects

AM was on hand to document the creation of Shepard Fairey’s (featured) latest outdoor project on the mural space hosted by Deitch Projects at the corner of Manhattan’s prime Houston & Bowery Street. As teased, the final product was true to the preview image which we first released. Armed with cans of spray paint, vats of wheat paste and a few “cherry pickers”, the Obey crew (Dan, Nick and Zee) braved the unexpected downpours to build this tremendous new mural. Check out our full coverage of their progress after the […]

Streets: Banksy in San Francisco (Part III)

Sir Banksy is on a tear in SF as we round up 6 different spots which he banged out in the past few days. As we see two which we already covered (Part I & Part II), what’s cool is our friends from Warholian did a little hometown research and plotted the exact addresses of each piece. So if you’re lucky enough to be near the Bay area, you should get your GPS out and do a little urban sight seeing. (While they lasts…) See pics of each one […]

Openings: David Choe – “Nothing to Declare” @ LAzarides Beverly Hills

Sometimes, we get spoiled at AM with behind the scenes studio visits where we see much of the art work before show openings, but in this case, our visit to David Choe’s (featured) studio definitely did not spoil our appetite for his latest series of works which were revealed at a private opening last night. Similar to the NY Outsiders show, the Beverly Hills-located LAzarides 90210 gallery’s production and lighting were peerless, accentuating and elevating Mr. Choe’s entire show, “Nothing to Declare”, to a whole […]

All they have to do is build

Since your fingers contain no muscles and are inactive when running, there’s no heat generation there during a run. Hyponatremia occurs when the sodium level in your blood dips below normal levels, which can happen if you’re diluting your sodium levels by overhydrating or if you’re not taking in enough electrolytes to offset the salt you’re losing through your sweat. Hyponatremia’s symptoms include the swelling of cells throughout the body as they fill with excess water, and it is commonly diagnosed by swelling in your […]

Streets: Banksy in San Francisco?

Hmm, with the series of premieres already making it’s way across the nation for Banksy’s “Exit Through the Gift Shop” including LA (covered) and New York (covered), it’s only natural to assume that Banksy could easily whiz up the Cali coast to No Cal and hit up San Francisco. We got a tip from our friends at Warholian that this could be the latest piece from the masked bomber. Located in the Chinatown area, it looks very familiar… What do you think? Discuss Banksy here.

Setup: David Choe – “Nothing to Declare” @ LAzarides Beverly Hills

Earlier in the week, we gave you a sneak peek of the show from inside David Choe’s (featured) secret LA studio. But, our friends at LAzarides 90210 also got us a quick look at the install progress in the luxe Beverly Hills space. As you can see from the picture above, David didn’t forget his famous watercolors. Don’t worry, we’ll get you even more pictures at the “Nothing to Declare” opening event but for now, check out more install pics after the jump…

Studio Visits / Preview: David Choe – “Nothing to Declare” @ LAzarides Beverly Hills

Los Angeles, absence makes the heart grow founder… So, David Choe (featured), welcome home! After a six year hiatus from showing in LA, the man who paddle-boated down the Mississippi, safaried the Congo Jungle, was jailed in Japan, and once exhibited in an ice cream parlor, will be making his homecoming in the heart of Beverly Hills this April 23rd for an exhibition to blow the hinges off. AM had the pleasure of stopping by David Choe’s warehouse/studio earlier this week for a little visit […]

Releases: Tomokazu Matsuyama x NSW x Medicom Bearbrick Pack

As hinted in our previous coverage of Tomokazu “Matsu” Matsuyama’s (interviewed) collaboration with Medicom, there is another surprise collaborator in this project: Nike. The unique artwork/pattern designed by Matsu for the Bearbrick project was utilized for a Nike Sportswear package which is coming out this month. This very limited set contains the medicom bearbrick (covered), a slick NSW Sportsman Jacket and a newly designed Nike Tekapo Slide Sandal. Like the bearbrick, both the trench jacket and Tekapo sandal were specifically designed and accented by Matsu to complement the […]

Teaser: Shepard Fairey Mural for Deitch Projects

The famed mural space on Soho’s Houston Street is about to cycle on to the next artist. The last time that we checked in on the location, Os Gemeos had created a masterful work of street art (featured). That has all been buffed now in preparation for Shepard Fairey to hit this central spot with his own brand of urban beautification for his upcoming show at Deitch Projects. AM stopped by Shepard’s Studio Number Two on Friday (more on that later) and got a sneak peak […]
