Check it out. Some pictures from inside David Choe’s (featured) LA bat-cave where he’s neck deep working on his new body of work for the coming solo “Nothing to Declare”. As mentioned, David’s batting in the lead-off spot for the new LAzarides 90210 pop up gallery this summer. More insane Choe-ness after the jump.

Openings: Tomoo Gokita – “Wildest Dreams” @ ATM Gallery

We recently swung by ATM gallery to check out Tomoo Gokita’s latest show “Wildest Dreams”. The body of work was quite a departure from his usual style that we witnessed at his previous showing (here) at Honor Frasier Gallery as these new canvases measured more than 4-5 feet each way and it was more “literal” in style. It seems that these works took less of an abstract view and had a more concise focus. Bill from ATM gallery took the time to take us to the back […]

Jeff Koons’ Design for BMW Unveiled

A few month’s back, we announced that BMW selected Jeff Koons as next up for the artist line of the “Ultimate Driving Machine”. Koons recently unveiled the concept design for his automotive masterpiece which was inspired by his desire for the checkered flag leading him to create the streaking effect with saturated hues. Sorta looks like the car is moving through a rainbow at warp speed right? The car will makes it’s debut at the 24 Hours of Le mans endurance race in Paris this […]

We recently stopped by Sloan Fine Art in NY to check out a mini-solo show by Edwin Ushiro (interviewed). “At Night, Lights Fell and Loved Ones Returned” featured five new paintings centered around the theme of abandoned spaces and the stories they told. It’s been busy recently for Edwin as he also participated in a group show in SF and is getting ready for two person show with Yoskay Yamamoto (featured) in the next half of this year at Roq La Rue. More images after […]

Happy Easter! Ron English – The Ascension of Santa Christ

Hope everyone is having a good Easter! Ron English (featured) was in Colorado Springs yesterday and sent us this video of him launching “Santa Christ”. A funny and strange play on this holiday… could it be his spin on the joke: “Who gets to cross first at the Stop Sign when there’s the Easter Bunny, Santa Clause, and the perfect…” Enjoy the video. Discuss Ron English here.

Teaser: Hush – “Passing Through” @ Shooting Gallery

San Francisco is going to get another taste of Hush (interviewed) when his show at Shooting Gallery opens up May 1st. The latest solo “Passing Through” from the UK urban artist looks to be very sharp as we’ve seen some new direction with his latest “Looking West” style geisha that we showed you (here & here). Seen above is another new twist on his classic angel character called “Modern Angel” – looks a little edgier with a dissected feel… Check out the print (to be […]

LAzarides 90210 heats up Los Angeles this summer

Remember last year when we broke the news about Lazarides moving their famous Outsiders show to LA? Well, they decided to step up their pop-up show efforts by expanding their LA presence to 4 shows that will last through this summer. The still secret 8000 ft gallery space will be situated in the famous high end district of Beverly Hills. The line up is nothing short of spectacular with David Choe (featured) to kick off with an opening April 23rd, followed by JR, Vhils, Conor Harrington, and Antony Micallef […]

Anish Kapoor Designs London’s Olympic Tower

Every year we visit a major art fair like Art Basel, we notice certain artists always create buzzworthy pieces. One of those artists is Anish Kapoor, who is renown for creating impressive eye catching sculptures. Apparently we aren’t his only fans as Anish was just named the winner of the competition to design the new “Olympic Tower” for the upcoming 2012 Olympic Games in London. The structure seems to be a mix of a roller coaster and the Eiffel Tower coming to life. The mind-blowing […]

Streets: Shepard Fairey x Obey – Mural Call Out

You’ve seen the previews of Shepard Fairey’s coming May Day exhibition at Deitch, but do you know the drill? Shep has an exhibition and the host city gets a free urban beautification makeover courtesy of iconic murals from the Obey crew, much like the ones built in Boston, Venice, Austin, Pittsburgh, and DC. But, this time he’s doing a little homework and this is your chance to get in on some “audience participation.” The crew is putting a call out for mural sites in Manhattan, Brooklyn […]
