Streets: London’s largest mural by Agents of Change

With the sun shining and scaffolding removed, wraps have come off London’s largest graffiti mural, covering two sides of a six-storey building in King’s Cross. Members of the Agents of Change crew with London based Remi/Rough, Edinburgh’s Steve More, LX.One from Paris, LA-based Augustine Kofie created this colourful geometrical artwork using over 500 litres of spray paint. Streets: Da Mental Vaporz (Melbourne)

We’ve been following the Da Mental Vaporz crew in Australia as they are currently showing at Rtist Gallery. Combining a patchwork of their different styles, the DMV crew consisting of Bom-K, Blo, Brusk, Dran, Gris1, ISO, Jaw, Kan, and Sowat just completed an imaginary bestiary on a four-storey building in the heart of Chinatown, making it the largest graffiti mural of Melbourne. Studio Visit / Streets: Tilt

AM was fortunate to visit French graffiti artist TILT in his studio in Toulouse as he prepared for multiple shows in London at POW, Singapore and Manila, and to follow him across the streets. When not painting graffiti on naked “bubble girls” across the world, the self declared “graffiti fetichist” leverages his fun and colourful bubble letters to represent iconic portraits, shoes and flags. Openings: “Attack of the Space Waffles” @ Outsiders

Space Invader is back to London for a solo show at the Outsiders and what a better way to celebrate December with an Attack of Space Waffles? Showcasing a series of brand new mosaic alias’ and some other goodies like stickers and limited editions. The basement features an ‘Invaded Disco Ball’, and a 20 minute documentary following Invader throughout his street missions, and also a ‘Space Waffle Machine‘ dispensing hot waffles throughout the exhibition to the delight of the gallery’s Christmas visitors. ‘Tis the season to be invaded… More pics after the jump…

Releases / Teaser: “Walls and Frames” Book Launch

The latest book by Gestalten, Walls & Frames, edited by Maximiliano Ruiz focuses on emerging international street artists and documents how they are transitioning from street to galleries, using innovative tools and techniques that are shaping a new direction of contemporary art. To celebrate the international release, all 101 participating artists have created handmade cover sleeves that will be available for sale during the launch parties in London at POW on the 8th of December and Gestalten Space in Berlin on 15th of December. Openings: Evol & Friends @ Pictures On Walls

Following his recent installation in London Smithfield market (covered here), German artist EVOL and a full supporting cast of artists took over Pictures on Walls for the Christmas show with installations, sculptures, books and limited edition prints. Showing: Ryan McGinley – “Wandering Comma” @ Alison Jacques Gallery

For his first London exhibition at Alison Jacques Gallery since the celebrated Moonmilk series over two years ago, Ryan McGinley has assembled seven new photographs, all in the largest format the American artist has yet worked in. Wandering Comma features photographs harmoniously balancing the orchestrated and the unpredictable, the staged and the spontaneous. Although the images begin with choreographed scenarios, the images that result are never wholly pre-meditated leaving their own freedom and initiative to the models or situation. Running through Thursday, December 22nd, Wandering Comma is a must-see show for anyone in and around the London area. Preview: Jorge Rodriguez-Gerada @ Galería Ignacio de Lassaletta

Cuban American artist Jorge Rodriguez-Guerada, known for his large scale charcoal photorealistic portraits on buildings since the 90s, will be presenting a new solo show (catalogue) at Galería Ignacio de Lassaletta, Barcelona on November 24th. The body of work will consist of a new collection of “Urban Analogies” made of charcoal drawings on 250 years old walls surfaces and “Memorylithics” sculptures using antique architectural elements. Preview: SIXEART – “Cosmovisión Andina y los Hijos del Inti” @ Galería N2

Opening this Thursday 17 November, Sixeart is back to the N2 Galería, in Barcelona, Spain, where some of the discerning public found out about his work a year before the Tate Modern discovered him. The new solo show entitled Cosmovisión Andina y los Hijos del Inti is an approximation to the ancient cultures of the Andes, full of colour, wisdom and misticism.
