Art Focus: Trevor Wheatley

Our latest Art Focus feature introduces you to the singular work of Trevor Wheatley and his mix of sculptural skills, public art, and typography. Photos of the Toronto-based artist’s signage in the great outdoors can initially deceive you into thinking there is some photoshopping involved, but the slang terms and cultural references used are sculptural creations that show his mastery over a creative mix of materials. He explains his work as such – “Initially, I wanted to impose graphic one-liners on untouched environments. I started with the […]

Basel Week Miami ’15 / Streets: Esao Andrews

Continuing our survey of the public art during Basel Week Miami, our eyes turn to a mural by Esao Andrews as he continues to create painterly pieces on the streets. We’ll bring you more about the project soon but for […]

Basel Week Miami ’15 / Streets: Phlegm

Another mural that caught our attention during Basel Week Miami was a clever new creation from Phlegm. Curated by Fresco Art and painted on the side of the Bon Vivant building, the new piece takes cues from the railroad track next to the site and features the Sheffield-based artist’s recognizable characters taking a ride on a train. Take a look at the amazing details of the locomotive, the tunnels & towers it traverses, and the creatures in the photos below… Discuss Basel Week Miami here. Discuss Phlegm here. […]

Entitled Strange Math, the new oil on linen works continue the Brooklyn-based artist’s series of figurative works that bring a sense of nostalgia to the viewer with its retro vibe, often accented by the unexpected. Judging from the size of some of some the pieces he is working on, attendees will get the chance to see a nice representation of his work at this […]
