Every edition of Baby Tattooville includes a “Secret Store” where attendees (in order of their seniority at the event) are allowed to purchase art merchandise and even original works form the participating artists. The highlight of this year’s setup were paintings that were used for this year’s print set including an stunning piece from Joe Sorren (seen above). Take a look below at more shots of what was available… See full coverage of this year’s event here. Discuss Baby Tattooville here.

Scott Scheidly – “The Pinks 2” @ Spoke Art

Continuing his signature series of works that we last saw in 2013 (covered), Scott Scheidly will be returning to San Francisco for a show opening tomorrow night, October 4th. Held at the sister gallery (Hashimoto Contemporary) to where he exhibited last, The Pinks 2 will see the Florida-based artist explore the cultural and social perceptions of color and symbology by painting well known characters in pop culture and history that are typically masculine with a more flamboyant aesthetic. Head over for a look at these unconventional and satirical portraits […]

Showing: Kehinde Wiley – “The World Stage: Haiti” @ Roberts & Tilton

Continuing his long relationship with the Culver City gallery, Kehinde Wiley is currently showing at Roberts & Tilton, his fifth solo there. Entitled The World Stage: Haiti, the new work follows the same successful formula from previous exhibitions while sourcing from a new locale. Carrying on his series of paintings of disadvantaged youth from different international locales (Jamaica, Israel, France, India, Brazil, Lagos, Dakar, China, and Sri Lanka) posed as if in classical paintings, the new work draw attention to the people of Haiti and its history. Created with Wiley’s signature aesthetic, ideas […]

Streets: Banksy (Clacton-on-Sea)

After unveiling a new piece on the streets in Folkestone after a short absence, it looks like Banksy has moved up the south east coast of England to Clacton-on-Sea. The clever new stenciled image features a flock of birds protesting against another bird of a different color, bringing to light the silliness of similar behavior in the human race. Hopefully, this is the beginning of a slew of new works from the Bristol Bomber. Discuss Banksy here.

Some of our friends behind POW! WOW! recently started Big Bad Wolf with the goal of bringing street inspired fashion, art and culture down to the little ones. Fans of his work and those who know any kids from two to ten can head over here to make a purchase. Discuss Yoskay Yamamoto here.

Studio Visits: Carl Krull – “Seismic” @ V1 Gallery

Ahead of Carl Krull’s current show at V1 Gallery, which opened over the weekend, we paid a visit to his studio to take a look at the new work. Situated at the top of an ancient building in Copenhagen overlooking the harbor, the impressive work space is a perfect setting to get the creative juices going and has indeed housed other artists throughout its history. Seismic is an appropriate title for Krull’s new work as he uses a very distinctive technique to produce his images […]

Streets: Banksy (UK)

A new piece from Banksy has recently popped up on the southeast coast of England as the town of Folkestone prepared for the Folkestone Triennial. Taking place every three years, the public art project was gifted this new piece from the elusive street artist entitled Art Buff featuring an elderly lady admiring a buffed area of graffiti as if it was art on a pedestal. Head to Payers Park in the towne center to take a look for yourself if you are in the area. Discuss […]
