Structures: Anish Kapoor / 56 Leonard by Herzog & de Meuron

The New York art collectors who can afford the added cost of a commissioned Anish Kapoor sculpture to their living situation may want to consider 56 Leonard by Herzog & de Meuron. The Swiss architecture firm has collaborated with many artists and been associated with many art related projects in the past, and these new luxury condos currently in construction are no less stunning. When completed, the oft delayed building will featured a “compressed” site specific stainless steel sculpture by Kapoor at the very bottom. Via Designboom. Discuss […]

Previews: David Choong Lee – “Cosmic Dust” @ Luna Rienne Gallery

On September 16th, the Luna Rienne Gallery in San Francisco will play host to the opening for Cosmic Dust, a solo from David Choong Lee. The new body of work will be somewhat of a departure for the locally based artist as he moves away from including portraiture in his imagery. The wholly abstract paintings will feature patterns and organic components that seem to reference alien worlds. No word yet whether there will be installations like the amazing two-story assemblages he created for the Grand Hyatt SF in Union […]

Previews: Dave Kinsey – “Cushion of Memory” @ Library Street Collective

Continuing to bring great art to Detroit, the Library Street Collective will be welcoming in Dave Kinsey (featured) for a showing opening on September 27th entitled Cushion of Memory. His work has become more abstract of late and certainly, the influences of living near the Sequoia National Park can be seen more and more from the wider vantage point and landscape views of his composition. Pulling textures, tones, and patterns from the surrounding environment (trees, plants, rocks, the sky), Kinsey’s imagery in this new body […]
