Releases: Jeremy Geddes – “Ascent” Print

Jeremy Geddes (interviewed) recently announced the lottery for his newest print release set to drop next week. Entitled Ascent, the latest limited edition from the Australian artist will feature an image sized at 56cm wide and 56cm high (paper size 61cm x 64m). Highlighting one of Geddes’ most popular reoccurring characters, the gravity defying astronaut can be yours for $235 AUD if you are lucky and will come in a run of 250. Showing: Jessica Harrison – “Flash” @ Galerie LJ

Earlier this month, Jessica Harrison presented her first solo show in Paris at Galerie L.J. entitled Flash, a reference to tattoos which ties her new body of work together thematically. On display were a series that the Scottish artist is perhaps best known for, her play on classic porcelain figurines. For this particular group of sculptures, she has added body ink to the bodies of these ceramic ladies, surprising the viewer by altering something that is familiar. Screenings: Takashi Murakami – “Jellyfish Eyes” @ Ace Hotel (Los Angeles)

This Friday night, the newly renovated Ace Hotel in Los Angeles will be hosting a screening of Takashi Murakami’s debut movie Jellyfish Eyes. The live-action feature film, the origins of which Murakami dreamt up over 10 years ago, will be shown at the historic theatre at the downtown hotel. We recently brought you a look at artists at work on the Urban Nation’s Project M/4 in Berlin, curated by Thinkspace. Previews: Ana Bagayan – “Children of the Sun” @ Thinkspace Gallery

Tomorrow night in Los Angeles, the Thinkspace Gallery will be hosting the opening of Ana Bagayan’s (interviewed) newest solo show. Children of the Sun features paintings and drawings that are inspired by her fascination with our sun and the worlds around it with the title of the show referring to Ancient Armenia, before the introduction of Christianity. Streets: COPE2 – Bowery & Houston Mural

Last week, the iconic corner of Bowery & Houston in New York saw a new mural take shape as COPE2 took over the location. Featuring his well known bubble tags and associated graf elements, the wall was soon filled with letterings from the NYC writer on a richly textured background.
