Upcoming: Haroshi – “Pain” @ StolenSpace

Tonight in London, the StolenSpace Gallery will be hosting Japanese artist Haroshi (featured) and his latest solo exhibition Pain. For this new body of work, the self-taught artist has applied his unique process of creating sculptures out of discarded skateboard decks to explore the effects of emotional pain. Releases: Jean-Michel Basquiat x Reebok Collection

Reebok recently released a line featuring the work of Jean-Michel Basquiat as part of their ongoing Affili’Art program. The Fall/Winter 2013 collection features the late artist’s imagery screen-printed and embroidered across different shoes and is now available at Reebok Reserve stockists. Openings: Gary Baseman – “Mythical Homeland” @ Shulamit Gallery

Over the weekend, the Shulamit Gallery in Venice, California opened their doors to Gary Baseman’s (interviewed) Mythical Homeland. Dominating the showspace was a birch forest installation that had photographs, drawings, and paintings hung throughout which references the experiences the LA-based artist’s father went through as a freedom fighter hiding from the Nazis (also illustrated in a recent music video with Die Antwoord). Album Covers: Jeff Koons x Lady Gaga – “ARTPOP”

Yesterday, Lady Gaga revealed the cover for her upcoming album ARTPOP featuring the work of Jeff Koons. Dominated by the image of a nude sculpture of the 27 year old singer, the new artwork was hinted at in her latest single Applause in her lyrics – “One second I’m a Koons, then suddenly the Koons is me.” Behind the sculpture are spliced parts of artworks including Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus, which is also referenced in the seashell base at the bottom and Gaga’s bikinis in her Applause […]

Releases: Audrey Kawasaki – “Offering” Print

In a couple hours, 9AM PDT to be exact, Audrey Kawasaki (interviewed) will start releasing her new print “Offering” on the Thinkspace online store. It measures 18 x 18″, is signed and numbered, and will come in an edition of 400 for $235. For those that miss out on the 200 that will be available today, next week on Saturday, October 12th at 12pm PDT, the rest will be available on the Audrey Kawasaki Shop (with a framing option as well). Tomorrow night (October 5th), the Thinkspace Gallery will be hosting new works from Seth Armstrong in their project room. Streets: Banksy – “Better Out Than In” (New York) – Day 3

For his third act in his ongoing street residency in New York, the UK-based Banksy created a new stenciled piece near 24th & 6th street. The image of a dog and fire hydrant’s relationship demonstrated Mr. B’s humor to his fans in the Big Apple once again. Streets: Os Gemeos x Mark Bode (San Francisco)

After Os Gemeos stopped by Los Angeles to promote their collaboration with Hennessy on a new bottle design, they headed up north to paint some public art in the Bay Area. One of the murals they got up was a joint effort with the San Fran-based Mark Bode. Featuring one of the twins signature yellow-skinned character riding Bode’s father’s Cheech Wizard, the piece can be seen on the back of the Warfield Theatre near 6th and Market Street.
