Upcoming: ROA – “Carrion” @ Backwoods Gallery

After his show in September in San Francisco (covered), street muralist and amateur zoologist ROA will be hitting up the other side of the globe with his latest solo exhibition. Held at the Backwoods Gallery in Melbourne, with the opening scheduled for November 30th, Carrion will explore the friction between man, animal, civilization and nature through the Belgium-based artist’s signature anatomical and interactive style. Also available will be 25 copies of his limited edition book to coincide with the opening. Discuss ROA here.

Showing: Aron Wiesenfeld @ Arcadia Gallery

Earlier this month in New York, painter and illustrator Aron Wiesenfeld presented a new body of work at the Arcadia Gallery, site of his last solo in 2011 (covered). Featuring a series of intense new paintings, the cinematic imagery explored gives us a glimpse into Wiesenfeld’s desolate world and brooding environments. Contests / Releases: Von – “Flight” Collector’s Edition Box Set

The UK-based artist and illustrator Von (interviewed) recently put up his Flight Collector’s Edition Box Set up for pre-order on his website. The set (edition of 50) includes 5 prints (signed and numbered) with each sized at 15.7 x 11.8″ and priced at £225. This abstracted bird images are part of Von’s Animal series, but even more exciting is the fact that 5 original signed drawings have been placed at random throughout the edition. Showing: Know Hope – “The Weight” @ Known Gallery

Last week, the Known Gallery in Los Angeles welcomed the Israel-based Know Hope in to display new works as well as create an installation for their showspace. Entitled The Weight, the new paintings and sculptural compositions touched on the subject of the burdens we have and how we manage them. Along with glimpses of his spindly characters, the poetic musings seen in his street work also made the trip over on minimalistic pieces on the side of the gallery. Showing: Geoff McFetridge – “Floating” @ Cooper Cole

A couple weeks ago, Toronto saw the opening for Geoff McFetridge’s first showing in his native country. Hosted at the Cooper Cole Gallery, Floating featured a series of work that highlighted the artist and designer’s unique perspective and talent with distilling the basic essence of his subjects onto canvas. El Mac x Adobe Campus (Utah)

The Los-Angeles based El Mac recently took another trip to the American Southwest (also see New Mexico) where he worked on a new project in Utah. This mural, created in his signature style, was completed on the Adobe campus just south of Salt Lake City and was organized by the RAPT Studio out of SF. Doktor A – “Postcard from New Yorkshire” @ MPH

From his beginnings as one of the most highly sought after art toy customizers out there, the UK-based Doktor A has progressed to producing his own sculptural creations, which was only natural if anyone has ever seen his work. For his recent showing in New York at My Plastic Heart, entitled Postcard from New Yorkshire, his full talents were on display with figures created in his robotic steampunk aesthetic with a fine attention to detail.  More photos below… Discuss Doktor A here.

Openings: JonOne – “A Beautiful Madness” @ Fabien Castanier Gallery

Earlier this month, the Fabien Castanier Gallery presented the first solo exhibition in the United States from JonOne entitled A Beautiful Madness. Although raised in New York where he laid his graffiti roots in Harlem, JonOne has lived in Paris since the mid 1980s where he has established himself as a fine artist. Preview: Nicoletta Ceccoli – “Eye Candy” @ AFA NYC

San Marino-based painter Nicoletta Ceccoli (interviewed) will be presenting all new works tomorrow night (November 17th) at AFA NYC. Entitled Eye Candy, the collection of paintings on display will focus on the interplay between bitterness and sweetness.
