Releases: Dan May – “The Resistless Hour Awaits” Print Set

Chicago-based painter Dan May (interviewed) recently put up a set of two prints for sale based on a commission piece he painted entitled The Resistless Hour Awaits. Featuring some of his signature imagery like his detailed rendering of strands, the limited editions are 16 x 20″ each, signed & numbered with COA, in a run of 50, and will cost you $100.  Head over to his webstore if you are interested. Openings: Rostarr – “IKONOCLYSM” @ Common Gallery

Last month, the Common Gallery in Tokyo filled their walls with work from Romon Kimin Yang (AKA Rostarr). As you saw in our studio visit prior to the opening, the NY-based artist prepared a series of diverse work featuring his signature calligraphy coupled with some references to Japan for this latest showing. Basel Week Switzerland ’12: Galerie Perrotin

The preeminent art fair for the world, Art Basel, opens soon in Switzerland with the top galleries and blue chip artists around the world sending in their top work for collectors to peruse. Teaser: Laurie Lipton – “L.A. Sous-Real” @ Ace Gallery (Los Angeles)

Coming up next month, Laurie Lipton (interviewed) will be opening her latest solo L.A. Sous-Real at the Ace Gallery in Los Angeles. Featuring her amazing skills with graphite and charcoal, the gifted artist will be putting on display a series of work featuring her signature surreal and hyper-detailed imagery, often executed with witty and biting commentary (LA is ripe for the taking don’t you think?). Streets: Flying Fortress x Nychos (Detroit)

It looks like the Detroit Beautification Project is still rolling along with this newest mural, a collaboration between Flying Fortress and Nychos. If you remember, the Germany and Vienna-based artists (respectively) have hooked up before (Dublin & Vienna) for a synergistic brand of imagery. Teaser: Case – “MayFair Lady” with Shea&Ziegler (London)

In his first solo in London in over 2 years, Andreas von Chrzanowski aka Case will be presenting a new body of work entitled MayFair Lady. Arranged Shea&Ziegler at The Gallery in Mayfair (99 Mount Street), the exhibition will put photorealistic spray skills of the German street muralist and Maclaim crew member on full display starting on June 22nd.
