Preview: Invader – “Derives” @ Alice Gallery

Back in March, we shared photos with you of some new Invader work in Brussels including some pieces with references to the famous peeing statue that is a symbol for the city. It looks like Belgium will also be getting a solo show from the Parisian artist at Alice Gallery with the opening scheduled for tonight. Look for his famous tiles, Rubik’s Cube pieces, installations, as well as a map of his invasion of the city. More preview images after the jump…

Openings: Isaac Cordal @ RAS Gallery

Last Friday, RAS Gallery in Barcelona hosted the opening of Isaac Cordal’s latest collection of works which were presented by SUBEN and curated by Maximiliano Ruiz. Cordal’s outdoor sculptural interventions, which often times are political in nature, made the transition to the gallery setting with pieces arrayed on a series of shelves and with floor installations. Videos: Jeff Soto x Chevy Sonic

Just a couple days ago, we shared with you photos that Jeff Soto (interviewed) sent us from his trip to Richmond, Virginia for the RVA Street Art Festival. Earlier this year though, Jeff had traveled up to San Francisco for a project with Chevy that had been kept under wraps until now. Take a look at the mini-documentary above as the Riverside-based artist “collaborates” with a robotic art car on a mural as well as discusses some of his thoughts behind the project. Streets: Olek – Katowice Street Art Festival (Poland)

The last we saw of the Polish-born Olek, she was filling a gallery in New York (covered) with an immersive installation utilizing balloons. Openings: Gary Baseman – “Vicious” @ Antonio Colombo Arte Contemporanea

Los Angeles-based artist Gary Baseman (featured) recently traveled to Milan for the opening of his solo show at the Antonio Colombo Arte Contemporanea. Featuring thirty new works (drawing and paintings), the new body of work entitled Vicious was enjoyed by his many Italian fans who attended the artist reception where Baseman happily greeted and sketched for some of his admirers. Releases: REVOK – “Sacrilege” Print

Tomorrow night (April 19th) in Oahu, Loft in Space welcomes back Ryuichi Ogino (OGI) for an exhibition entitled Kigen. AM first met up with OGI back in February for the annual art retreat known as POW WOW, and now the Tokyo-based artist is back for his first solo in Hawaii. Teaser: Tom French & Rone – “Don’t Look Back” @ Zero Cool

Next week Thursday, April 26th, the Zero Cool Gallery will be hosting a joint exhibition by Tom French (featured) and Rone entitled Don’t Look Back. Last we heard, French’s studio was in Newcastle so this will be local for him.
