It looks like Wynwood Walls is kicking off things early this year because just after RETNA hit up his wall in Miami, ROA, Gaia, Nunca, HOW & NOSM, the Date Farmers, Faile, and Bast rolled into town to do their thing. Just last Saturday night, Kukula filled the ground floor of the Corey Helford Gallery with her newest paintings, influenced by her recent visit to the France and the rich and decadent life of the old aristocracy. In kind, her paintings are more elaborate, intricate, and detailed than in the past made even more impressive as some of the works were her largest to date. Washington DC-based artist Mark Jenkins, whose work we enjoyed back in March at the VOLTA fair during Armory Week, recently got involved with the Beck’s Green Box Project, an interesting application of new technology in the streets. Tonight at David Zwirner in New York, Lisa Yuskavage returns with a collection of mostly new paintings. As with her show last year in London, she continues to explore her portraitures of the female nude, all painted with her signature lush and erotic touch. For this exhibiton, the NY-based artist also appears to incorporate more elements of landscape and still-life painting into her narrative including a large triptych, the first time for her in this format. Coming up on Thursday night, September 29th, in Milan, street sensations Interesni Kazki will be opening their solo show at AvantGarden. The Ukrainian duo’s work is colorful and surreal with almost a Dali-esque feel to it. Appropriately, their exhibition is entitled Objects of the Universe as their paintings are typically filled with disparate mundane items arranged in inventive compositions. Also, interesting will be how their work (see Russia, Ibiza, Portugal, and Slovakia) translates indoors although they will be working on some wall murals as well. […]

It looks like Dave White, who showed in Art Copenhagen last year (covered), decided to give his fans in Denmark a proper gallery show. The new body of work for Americana currently on at Galleri Jules Julian explores some of the iconography particular to the US, mainly cowboys and Indians, all painted in the loose style White has been using recently. Perhaps influenced by the pop-up restaurant The Tree House (see video above) in Frankfurt for which he presumably curated the artwork for, Lazarides will be bringing the PRET A DINER concept in for his newest project in London. During Frieze and the London Restaurant Festival, from October 10 – 25, the gallery will be organizing a show and pop-up fine dining experience in The Old Vic Tunnels, site of 2010’s Hell’s Half Acre exhibition.
