Streets: CityLeaks Summary – Faith47, DAL, ROA, Herakut, INTI

We’ve already shown you the walls that Blu and Ethos painted for the CityLeaks Festival in Germany, but it looks like it’s time for a summary of some of the rest of the participants. As we have become accustomed to, street artists Faith47 and DAL worked on murals with religious overtones and frenetic energy respectively. Belgium-based ROA brought his new skinned animal concepts from indoors to outdoors. Preview: “Blab!” @ Copro Gallery

With a plethora of great shows opening in Los Angeles this weekend, not to mention the world, there is no way we can write about everything unfortunately (you can always join our forum for a more extensive calendar). Another gallery you should add to your list is the Copro Gallery in Santa Monica as they will be hosting seventh annual BLAB! SHOW, previewing artwork from the upcoming volumes of BLABWORLD No. 2 and 3.

With Alex Lukas set to present his superb collection of new paintings this Saturday at Guerrero Gallery, we thought we would highlight the previous show that just closed at the SF showspace entitled Building Context. Preview: Yumiko Kayukawa – “Coming Home” @ Roq La Rue

Tonight at Roq La Rue, Japanese artist Yumiko Kayukawa will be introducing a new body of work in her home city entitled Coming Home, which will also be her first solo at the gallery since 2002. The Seattle-based painter has been working to expand her narrative since her show in San Francisco in March (covered) and continues her fascination with her female protagonists and their animal friends presented in complex compositions. Streets: Claudio Ethos for Cityleaks Festival (Germany)

Back in June, we brought you photos of the medusa head that Blu painted for the CityLeaks Festival in Germany. Now pictures have surfaced of the beautiful new mural that the Brazilian street surrealist Ethos gifted Cologne for his part of the event. For those interested, the festival have uploaded timelapse videos onto their vimeo channel of Herakut’s and Blu’s work so far. Check out a couple more detailed pics of the wall above after the jump…

Teaser / Video: Kid Zoom for “Young & Free” @ 941 Geary

Kid Zoom, whom we last caught up with at his New York solo show, was recently featured in a video by Kingbrown Magazine. The detailed footage captures his can control and skills with spray paint quite well and will give you an idea of what to expect for the Young & Free show opening in San Francisco on September 10th at the 941 Geary. Teaser / Streets: WK Interact – “Project Brave”

To commemorate the 10th Anniversary of 9/11, WK Interact will be collaborating with New York City firefighters on Project Brave, a mural that will be located on Kent Avenue (between North 4th & North 5th Streets). Featuring his signature in-motion creations, the large 328 foot mural will feature iconic imagery from the tragic attack and will be on view from September 11 – October 11. Discuss WK Interact here.

Teaser: “Impetus” @ University of Arizona

Tucson will be getting a dose of the New Contemporary Art Movement tomorrow, September 8th, when Impetus opens at the University of Arizona School of Art. The group show will be curated by Thinkspace and be held at the the Joseph Gross Gallery. Streets: Interesni Kazki (Slovakia)

Since July, we have already seen three huge murals from Interesni Kazki in Russia, Ibiza, and Portugal. The Ukranian duo continues their hot streak with this newest wall in Košice, Slovakia featuring some of their signature surreal imagery. Streets: Joe Sorren

It looks like gifted painter Joe Sorren’s (featured) has painted another wall in his home city (see the previous The Veridic Gardens of Effie Leroux), this time in collaboration with Lyle Motley.
