Streets: Banksy (Los Angeles) Part II

As we suspected, Banksy was not done with his initial “Crayon Shooter” stencil in West LA. Looks like another piece has been discovered showing he’s a fan of Charlie Brown on the side of an abandoned fire-damaged building.  We wonder how many he has planned as we lead up to the Oscars.  Take a look at another video from Foreman of the initial piece after the jump…

As our readers must know by now, Banksy’s film “Exit Through The Gift Shop” has been nominated for an Oscar.  Although it doesn’t appear that he will be allowed to personally accept the award if he wins, it looks like he made the trip out to Los Angeles just the same.  Take a look at this new piece that has popped up reportedly attributed to the elusive street artist.  Perhaps the start of his Oscar campaign with more to come? Teaser: “Lined In Lead” @ Gallery Nucleus

As the title suggests, Nucleus Gallery in Alhambra will be holding a group show in March featuring works done in graphite. They’ve assembled a nice list of artists who are involved including Alexandre Day, Andrew Hem, and Rob Sato (full list here). Openings: David Ellis – “Mola Salsa” @ New Image Art

A couple weeks back, multifaceted art dynamo David Ellis filled New Image Art with his new body of work Mola Salsa. Featuring a more figurative collection of paintings, the work also maintained hints of Ellis’ geometric patterns and linework. Videos: Dan Witz – “What the %$#@? (WTF)” @ White Walls

A show that closed recently in San Francisco at White Walls, What the %$#@? (WTF) featured the acronym inspiring work of Dan Witz. The ongoing series of works consisted of his photorealistic renderings of people trapped behind grills, bars, and windows.  This new video has some nice footage of him getting his provocative work up as well as him talking a little about the philosophy behind his art. Opening tonight at Clifton’s Brookdale in LA will be a tribute show for David Lynch’s Twin Peaks.
