Streets: Eine (South Africa)

The last time we hung out with Ben Eine was when he was painting the “Alphabet Street” in London. He has since made headlines by entering Obama’s collection and now appears to have traveled to Cape Town to do some work. Take a look this nice project as he painted over some large vats with “FAIR SPONTANEOUS PASSIONATE CHANGE THE WORLD AND CELEBRATE.” Take a look at a couple of in progress shots as well as more shutters from South Africa after the jump…

Showing: Anish Kapoor – “Turning the World Upside Down” @ Kensington Gardens

Kensington Gardens in London is currently the setting for “Turning the World Upside Down”, Anish Kapoor’s newest exhibition of his largescale mirror sculptures. Organized by the Royal Parks and Serpentine Gallery, the new locale for the renowned Indian artist’s most recent works certainly provides a stunning contrast especially when reflected in the shiny surfaces. The four sculptures will be in residence for six months amongst the trees, grass, and ponds and will feature around the clock security. More pics after the jump…

Releases: Jeff Soto – “The Seeker” Print

One of our favorite images from Jeff Soto’s (featured) show (covered) last June at the Jonathan LeVine Gallery, “The Seeker” has is being released as a print. The painting depicts one of the art toys that Jeff released recently at SDCC, and would make a nice companion piece for any collector out there. The print is a 23.5″ x 36″ offset lithograph (edition of 450), and will be offered for $75, but apparently, there is a 15% discount applied to all pre-orders currently. You can […]

Opening next month, “Myth of the American Motorcycle” at the Contemporary Arts Center, Cincinnati (previously the site of the Shepard Fairey retrospective) will feature the vibrant paintings of Rosson Crow (featured). The exhibition, fueled by Rosson’s love for motorcycle lore, combines her expansive-retro style with the thematic choice of an American icon – a perfect match. Geometrically inclined Aakash Nihalani will be opening a new show at the Bose Pacia Gallery in New York on November 4th. After taking the next step in converting his public tape installations to cut aluminum gallery pieces for an LA show earlier this year, we are looking forward to what the creative street artist will bring next. As we mentioned in out teaser last week, Dorothy Circus will be hosting a new body of work from Nicoletta Ceccoli (interviewed) on October 29th. The show entitled “Incubi Celesti” or “Heavenly Nightmares” is a fitting name for these new paintings. Although there is always something delicate and beautiful about Nicoletta’s work, each of these new pieces has some darker aspects to them when you look closer.
