Streets: Banksy @ Glastonbury 2010

Glastonbury, the largest open-air music and performing arts festival in the world, opened last week in the UK. Along with a long and diverse list of music acts like the Pet Shop Boys, Snoop Dogg, Shakira, Norah Jones, Gorillaz, Mos Def, Stevie Wonder and Willie Nelson among many others, artists well known to us were on hand to throw up pieces all around the venue. One of these was none other than Banksy with this piece on the perimeter. More images after the jump…

Openings: Todd Schorr – “Designed for Extinction” @ Otis College of Art & Design

On Saturday night, the greater Los Angeles area was very fortunate to host another show from Todd Schorr (featured) after his solo last year at Merry Karnowsky. After the legendary artist took a five year hiatus from exhibiting in the area, here is a second show, all in the span of one year. The  exhibition at the Otis College of Art and Design is a ten-year retrospective looking back at Todd’s illustrious career since his move to Los Angeles, and as such, featured many paintings, […]

Openings: Jeff Soto – “Life Cycle” @ Jonathan LeVine Gallery

New York put out a big welcome for Jeff Soto (featured) when he rolled into town for the opening of his solo show in Chelsea at the Jonathan LeVine Gallery last night. The Riverside native and originator of the Sotofish put to together a stunning collection of work entitled “Life Cycle” featuring contemplative paintings of the joys and sorrows of life, death, and everything in between. Jeff has added more detail and depth into this new batch of work which definitely shows. Take a look […]

Streets: Jeff Soto in New York

After Jeff Soto (featured) tasted the streets again in London after ten long years, it looks like he’s definitely gotten the itch since then. Following a sick mural for Art Basel Week last December in Miami, he now has put up a piece in Chelsea ahead of his show opening this Saturday night at Jonathan LeVine Gallery. Keep it locked on AM as we’ll have more to follow… Discuss this show here. Discuss Jeff Soto here. Join Jeff Soto’s facebook fan page here.

Update: Greg Simkins

It appears one of our lucky forum members was able to recently score a rare commission from Greg “Craola” Simkins‘ (featured) featuring none other than The Count and his Sesame Street crew (well, minus Ms. Piggy and Big Bird who are apparently dead in this alternate universe). Take a look at the details after the jump including the preliminary sketches and marvel at how Greg is able to seamlessly incorporate all the famous children’s show’s imagery into the painting. Oh and if you haven’t seen […]

Streets / Video: Twist, Amaze, Resq, Stefan, Deej, CBT Crew in San Diego

So, that epic wall chock full of handstyles that we posted up last night was actually from San Diego where Barry McGee and the rest of the crew (Amaze, Resq, Stefan, Deej) were in town to prep for the big “Viva La Revolucion” exhibition opening next month at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego. If you want to check some of this work out, you’d better hurry as apparently the San Diego residents aren’t as into art as some towns and have been raising […]

Video: Friends With You x N.E.R.D – “Hot-n-Fun” ft. Nelly Furtado

After recent news that the Miami-based artist collaborative, Friends with You, customized a Rolls Royce for N.E.R.D., the trio have now released a music video for “Hot-n-Fun” featuring the said car as well as imagery from the artists scattered throughout the video. Friends With You also recently participated in the Wish Come True Festival during Luminato in Toronto, Ontario which included a pretty awesome outdoor installation.  Check out all the pics after the jump…

Streets: Twist & Amaze

Not sure when or where this went up, but it looks to be a pretty sick “tag-athon” of this particular wall. As you can see, it seems both SF legends Twist (Barry McGee) & Amaze were involved in this piece as reported by Upper Playground. For those who can’t get enough of McGee check out our coverage of his recent museum shows in Oakland and Bolinas. Discuss Barry McGee here.

Streets: Blu in Madrid

After leaving his mark in Lisbon with an epic collaboration with Os Gemeos, Blu moved on to Madrid to work on his next project. This is an abandoned building in “Esta Es Una Plaza” where the Italian street artist threw up his version of the Madrid coat of arms (seen after the jump).
