Releases: Jeff Soto – “The Gardener” Print

While in town for his gig poster and print retrospective (covered), Jeff Soto (interviewed) has also released a new limited edition from Industry Editions in Austin. Releases: Banksy UK Election Print

Trying a new technique to further his political activism, Banksy has announced that he will be releasing a new print soon to coincide with the UK Elections on June 9th. Streets: Telmo Miel – “Trollstigen” (Norway)

Recently in Gol, Norway, a new mural was painted by Telmo Miel entitled appropriately entitled Trollstigen. The Dutch duo explain – “They come in all shapes and sizes. Trolls, Beings from Norse mythology and Scandinavian folklore. Till this day they’re still being hunted by tourists, trying to get a glimpse of one of these creatures.” Discuss Telmo Miel here.

Releases: KAWS – “Blush Companion”

Just released this morning, the Blush edition of KAWS’ Companion figure is still available on his website. The two versions (regular and flayed) are both open editions and retail for $200 each. If you remember, word on these first surfaced around the time the Brooklyn-based artist opened his show in Shanghai. Discuss KAWS here.

Previews: Kisung Koh – “Long Live the Polar Treasure” @ Thinkspace

This Saturday night (June 3rd), Thinkspace’s project room will play host to Kisung Koh’s first solo exhibition with the Culver City gallery. The Toronto-based painter is another young artist whose imagery touches on environmental issues as is evident with his choice of subject matter for this showing. Entitled Long Live the Polar Treasure, the new collection of oil paintings from Koh is entirely dedicated to the endangered polar bear and the displacement from its habitat, paralleling the Korean artist’s own life experiences of “deracination and the pangs of dislocated belonging.”

On June 9th, Dorothy Circus Gallery in Rome will be hosting a new solo show from Fuco Ueda entitled Yumei. Extensively utilizing natural materials in her work like powdered mineral pigments on paper, cloth and wood, together with acrylic paint, the Japanese artist has created a new body of work that lingers between reality and the dream world. Murals: The Draculas @ ETA Agency

We first got turned on to the work of The Draculas during this year’s POW! WOW! Hawaii where they painted an amazing and surreal campfire scene. The Southern California-based duo, comprised of Gary Musgrave and Jeff McMillan, recently painted mural for the ETA Agency in Long Beach featuring a seaside city rampage kaiju battle.
