After a creative redesign of a building several months ago in London where the facade appeared to be sliding off, Alex Chinneck has revealed his newest project. Minor On The Moon near Blackfriars Bridge in England’s capital turns things upside down with the remix of a 1780s livery stable through which cattle used to be shuttled for river transport. One of the long-time satellite fairs we always check out during Art Basel Week in Miami is Pulse. As in previous years, the fair was held at The Ice Palace, just south of Wynwood, and consisted of a wide range of domestic and international galleries, including New Image Art, Martha Otero, Yancey Richardson and Mixed Greens. The Miami Project successfully launched its second rendition during Basel week with a well-curated selection of U.S. galleries, including such notable names as Yossi Milo, Joshua Liner, Mark Moore, Richard Heller and David B. Smith. Located in the Wynwood Arts District, the young art fair focused on primary representation of emerging and mid-career artists, which was a nice counterpoint to its much larger neighbor, Art Miami. Another interesting exhibition that occured during Art Basel Week was entitled Most Oddinism located at The Rotunda, just a block from a number of fairs such as Miami Projects, Art Miami & Context in Miami’s Downtown district. This group show featured the works by many familiar artists you’ve seen here at AM including Aaron De La Cruz, Christopher Derek Bruno, Ben Eine, Kenji Hirata Anthony Lister, Otto Zitko, Patrick Martinez (seen above), ESPO and Roid. We made sure to stop by the Miami Museum of Contemporary Art while in town for Art Basel Week to take in an impressive collection of works from Tracey Emin. Entitled Angel Without You, the exhibition includes the Why I Never Became a Dancer video purchased in 1998 by the MOCA, the first American museum to acquire work from the UK-based artist.
