Art HK ’12 Art Fair – Mizuma Gallery

Another booth AM stops by whenever we are at art fairs the Tokyo-based Mizuma Gallery. Not only do they represent one of our favorite artists, Masakatsu Sashie and his entrancing orbs of futuristic and post-apocalyptic goodness as well as the talents of Akino Kondoh, but their roster of artists always includes much of the up-and-coming talent from Japan. Basel Week Switzerland ’12: Haroshi for Jonathan LeVine Gallery (SCOPE)

Another booth to check out if you are lucky enough to be at Art Basel right now is the Jonathan LeVine setup at SCOPE. Japanese sculptor Haroshi has contributed three pairs of transparent shoes, fitted with feet sculpted from skateboards, a signature touch. Openings: Rostarr – “IKONOCLYSM” @ Common Gallery

Last month, the Common Gallery in Tokyo filled their walls with work from Romon Kimin Yang (AKA Rostarr). Last month, Prune Nourry premiered her solo exhibition Holy River at The Invisible Dog Art Center in Brooklyn. Haroshi – “The Battle At The Berrics V” Trophy

Sculptor Haroshi, known for his work with skateboards as his raw material, recently was asked to create the trophy for The Battle At The Berrics V. The finals, which went down this weekend, for the competition held at The Berrics, an indoor skatepark owned by professional skateboarders Steve Berra and Eric Koston will determine the winner of this double middle finger salute.
