Showing: Gregory Euclide – “Nature Out There” @ Nevada Museum of Art

Currently at the Nevada Museum of Art, Gregory Euclide has a collection of works on display collectively entitled Nature Out There. Reminiscent of another artist regularly covered here on AM, Adam Neate (interviewed), Euclide has progressed his work to where there is an added dimensionality to the paintings he creates. Blending natural and found materials with his rendered scraps, the Minnesota-based artist creates encapsulated worlds where “pristine notions of landscape meet the reality of our current environment.” More photos after the jump…

Streets: David Shrigley – “How Are You Feeling?” (New York)

David Shrigley, who is currently putting on a retrospective at the Hayward Gallery in the UK, has also found time to design a new billboard next to the The High Line in New York. The piece which will remain in place through May 7th features self-reflective speech bubbles and is entitled How Are You Feeling? If you remember, John Baldessari also hit up the spot, sits alongside the elevated park at 18th Street and Tenth Avenue, back in December with his $100,000 bill. A closer look […]

Openings: Tessar Lo – “Past, Present, Past-Present” @ Cooper Cole

A couple weeks ago, the Cooper Cole Gallery held court for attendees of Tessar Lo’s newest solo show titled Past, Present, Past-Present. The new body of work included medium to large-scale pieces featuring dream-like abstract imagery centered on his boy & animal characters and painted with rich and lush colors. Also, available will be a sculptural edition, don’t say, dansé, produced by Dark Matters in an edition of 25 for those interested. More opening photos after the jump…

Openings: George Condo @ PRISM

Last weekend, the PRISM Gallery on Sunset was the stage for a showing from influential American artist George Condo. Featuring a survey of his work including largescale paintings, sculptures, and drawings, the pieces were selected with a special emphasis on the portrait-style work of the last decade in mind. Stop by soon if you are interested in this rare assemblage of Condo’s work in Los Angeles as the short exhibition ends on April 28th to make way for Barry McGee. More photos after the jump…

The answer is probably nobody – which is why a steady stream of artists of late have been seen working on collaborations with the French photographer including Liu Bolin, Cyrcle., Jose Parla, and now David Lynch (just to name a few). What up INTERNET!? Last week your boy… Hennessy Youngman presented a fresh show at Maurizio Cattelan’s Family Business Gallery. Initially invited by Marilyn Minter for an exhibition, Youngman decided to open up this opportunity to all the local artists to submit their artwork. The show entitled Itsa small, small world ended up being maxed out the first day with submitted artwork. After our first curatorial experience last year in Hong Kong with the East West Connect exhibition, our next project is a little closer to home. Entitled City of Fire, this new show in Los Angeles will again bring together a diverse list of artists that we have admired and covered through the years here on AM.
