Another Update: Josh Keyes – “Collision” @ David B. Smith Gallery

We couldn’t resist posting another teaser pic that is possibly (there’s a good chance it’s a commission piece also due to its size) for Josh Keyes‘ (interviewed) upcoming show at David B. Smith Gallery. This monster piece (perhaps 120″ x 40″?) looks to be an further exploration of the “Sowing” concept that we first saw in his Swarm Gallery show last year. We can’t wait to see the completed piece when the show “Collision” opens in November. Discuss Josh Keyes here.

The renowned photographer whom has transcended generations with his iconic snapshots of hip hop and punk legends. Subliminal Projects opened their doors a week ago with a show featuring the work of their head honcho, Shepard Fairey. “Printed Matters” was just that, a collection of some of Shep’s favorite images printed on wood, metal, album covers, and collage. Just hours ago, Todd “REAS” James’ show at Galeria Javier López opened it’s doors to the “Great Adventure”. It turns out, the adventure was a tongue-in-cheek way of referring to wars and the associated atrocities that come with it. Much like his show earlier this year in NY at Gering & López (covered), James’ cartoonish portrayal of the machinations of war include smiling tanks shooting out blood, funny-faced missiles romping around, nude female soldiers frolicking around in the mayhem, and much more. Jeff Koons recently opened his latest solo exhibition at Galarie Jerome De Noirmont, further exploring his “Popeye Sculpture” series. Filling the Paris space with some of his signature “balloon” sculptures perched precariously in various formations, Koons brings new life to the works while adding some new twists like an appearance by Olive Oyl. Akino Kondoh on “the Shortlist” for Youtube Biennial @ Guggenheim Museum

AM friend Akino Kondoh has just been announced as one of the artists making “the Shortlist“ for the Guggenheim’s first annual Youtube Play: a Biennial of Creative Video. Wittled down from over 23,000 videos in over 91 countries, Akino will be one of 125 finalists to go before a panel of distinguished judges including Takashi Murakami, Marilyn Minter and Ryan McGinley.
