Upcoming: KAWS – “Where The End Starts” @ Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth

Starting on October 20th, a major survey exhibition of the work of KAWS will be opening at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. A followup to his 2011 show at The Modern (covered), Where The End Starts will feature “key paintings, sculptures, drawings, toys, and street art interventions” that will give a complete review of the Brooklyn-based artist’s 20 year career. Only few weeks before opening his second solo show with Mary Boone Gallery in New York, Tomoo Gokita gave us a peek inside his Tokyo studio. Among all the new artworks ready to be shipped to the US, we were able to enjoy this stimulating place and all the various bits from which the Japanese artist is getting his inspiration. Imperfect Reality with Figures and Challenging Abstraction is the title of an installation by Chris Johanson that will open on September 17th at The Conversation. His first Berlin solo show will be hosted by a nomadic cultural project founded by curator and artist Aaron Rose and gallerist Johann Haehling von Lanzenauer. James Jean x TBWA\Paris – AIDES Campaign

After working with Apple to promote their new Pencil stylus, James Jean (interviewed) decided to harness the new technology for his latest project. The second Saturday of August of every year is International Swingers Day (common knowledge of course) – so to mark the occasion, Jean was commissioned by TBWA\Paris to create a special image for AIDES, the leading HIV/AIDS organization in France. He decided due to limited space and time constraints to execute the piece while on the road in the Japan on his iPad. Discuss James Jean here.
