Releases: Brendan Monroe x Raised by Wolves Capsule Collection

A new capsule collection from Raised by Wolves was recently released featuring the distinctive imagery of Brendan Monroe (interviewed). The hoodies, sweatshirts, and tees were imprinted with the Bay Area-based artist’s topographical linework and is available on a limited basis. On March 28th, Narwhal Contemporary in Toronto will be hosting a new solo show from Souther Salazar entitled Attic Transmissions. The Portland-based artist’s work has always brought a smile to the face of fans of his whimsical work – with this new collection of paintings being no different. It looks like the fabrication is finally underway for the Psychic Temple project for interTrend in Long Beach, a collaboration between artist James Jean (interviewed) and architect Brandon Shigeta. The amazing library for the communication company that specializes in helping corporate America to target Asian Americans will feature the imagery of Jean carved into the backs of an integrated series of bookshelves. Openings: Sarah Joncas & Camilla d’Errico – “Beauty in the Breakdown” @ Thinkspace Gallery

Last weekend, Sarah Joncas (seen above) and Camilla d’Errico (seen below) opened up a joint show together at Thinkspace Gallery in Los Angeles that included good representations of what they were known for. Beauty in the Breakdown featured the feminine portraiture of Joncas in film-noir settings contrasted against the manga-inspired surreal work of d’Errico. Leading up to her current showing at Narwhal Contemporary in Toronto, we stopped by the studio of Junko Mizuno in San Francisco to learn more about her work environment and to see some of the works in progress. Dabs Myla Create New MTV Movie Awards Logo

With the 2015 MTV Movie Awards set to go live on April 12th, the television channel has revealed the new logo designed by Dabs Myla. You may remember that last year, KAWS was tapped work with the VMA’s, so it’s not surprise that they have continued hiring on talented artists that their viewers can relate too. Over the weekend, Honor Fraser Gallery in Culver City presented new works from Kenny Scharf (interviewed) collectively entitled Born Again. The latest solo from the American painter includes a diverse sampling of his oeuvre including new pieces on reclaimed artwork, assemblages, videos and collages, as well as an installation.
