Previews: Kelly Vivanco – “Peculiar Tides” @ Thinkspace Gallery

On September 13th, Thinkspace Gallery will be presenting new works from Kelly Vivanco in an exhibition entitled Peculiar Tides. As the title indicates, the Southern California-based painter will be taking her cast of characters and creature companions to new seaside and underwater locales. Coming up at the end of the next month, the Long Beach Museum of Art will be hosting an interesting group exhibition where 14 accomplished artists are asked to contribute one large scale painting from their careers which they deem as being pivotal. Upcoming: Eric White – “Down In Front” @ Antonio Colombo Arte Contemporanea

On September 25th, Eric White (interviewed) will be presenting new works in Milan at Antonio Colombo Arte Contemporanea. His second solo with the gallery will feature paintings and drawings collectively entitled Down In Front. The new imagery will no doubt continue his exploration of perspective as well as keep his characters on the road and will have an old school cinematic feel to it. Discuss Eric White here.

Streets: Brendan Monroe x Souther Salazar @ FFTT (Portland)

Last week, Brendan Monroe (interviewed) and Souther Salazar were able to complete their joint mural in Portland for Forest For The Trees (FFTT). The artists were invited to join the not-for-profit the public mural project, which also featured eighteen other local and international artists. Over the course of several days, Salazar painted clusters of his whimsical imagery against Monroe’s Tron-like structured background that hints at trees. Releases: Josh Keyes x Tiny Showcase – “Sleeping Woods” Print

Earlier today, Josh Keyes (interviewed) released a new print through Tiny Showcase continuing their long collaborative history together (2014, 2013, 2012, 2010). Entitled Sleeping Woods, the new edition has an image area of 14″ x 8.4″ and total size of 15″ x 9.5″ including the border. The run size will be determined by orders through Thursday, August 28 at 12pm Eastern Time with $15 of each $50 sale going to benefit Creative Growth. Tomorrow, August 26th, at 12pm PST, 827 Ink will be releasing a new print from Sylvia Ji (interviewed). Entitled Marigold Catrina, the edition will be limited to a run of 150, with the image size at 18″ x 18″ (paper size 20″ x 20″), and will come signed and numbered of course.
