Upcoming: Marion Peck – “StraVolti” @ Dorothy Circus Gallery (Rome)

Coming up at the end of next month (April 21st), Dorothy Circus in Rome will be opening a new solo from Marion Peck entitled StraVolti. Returning to show in the capital city for the first time in more than a decade, the American artist has prepared 11 oil paintings on canvas that mix her surreal imagery with inspiration from European art and cultural tradition. Pictured here are two portraits from Peck where you can see the influence of Picasso’s work at play. Discuss Marion Peck here.

ON THE MOVE, a new group show opened tonight at KIRK Gallery in Denmark featuring the work of Fintan Mcgee, Joram Roukes, Robert Proch, Christian Verginer, Telmo Miel (seen above), Wiley Wallace, James Bullough, Ratur & Sckaro and Wes21. The gallery in Aalborg is responsible for the Out in the Open project that has brought many muralists to the area including some who are included in this exhibition. Jonathan LeVine Projects recently closed a showing by John Jacobsmeyer, his debut solo with the Jersey City gallery. Entitled Great Feats and Defeats, the oil paintings from the New York-based artist depict a world of impossible mazes created from plywood, full struggling competitors. The pieces created on aluminum are strangely influenced by both Jacobsmeyer’s fascination with wood since childhood and from his love for gaming cultures. Openings: Amy Sol – “Bird of Flux” @ Thinkspace Gallery

Earlier this month, Thinkspace in Los Angeles presented all new works from Amy Sol (interviewed) entitled Bird of Flux. Working with a more muted palette and a predominately twilight setting, the Nevada-based artist was able to achieve a more introspective and melancholic feel to the show. Some of her elegant female characters were stylistically more elongated which carried over to her first exploration of sculptural forms. Take a look at the entire body of work here. Releases: James Jean x Defonce – Custom Chocolate Bar

James Jean (interviewed) recently announced the release of a collaborative product with Defonce Chocolatiers that feature his artworks and design. The custom bar features cannabis-infused white chocolate splashed with Rosé champagne and showered with pistachios and strawberries. Starting on March 17th (12am midnight PST), two new limited editions will be available from Audrey Kawasaki (interviewed) time limited to 48 hours.
