Cinta Vidal For Guzzo Club (Barcelona)

Recently in Barcelona, Cinta Vidal (featured) painted a sweet little mural for Guzzo Club featuring some of her signature imagery. The new piece featured one of her architectural oddities that has Escher-like feel with it’s impossibly connecting stairs and disregard for gravity. The Spanish artist painted this as part of the Inner Landscapes Chapter 2 show slated to open on October 28th. Discuss Cinta Vidal here.

Releases: Sail – “Sagari” Print

Recently, Sail (featured) released a new print entitled Sagari online through Out Of Step Arts. The image was taken from a piece the Pacific Northwest-based artist contributed to the 4th Annual Supersonic Invitational Show. The painting was inspired by the ghost of horses left to die where they fall with the spirit caught in the trees as it rises from the body as referred to by the title. The 12 x 16″ signed and numbered edition (run of 100) costs $60 and is available here. Discuss Sail here.

Baby Tattooville ’15: Mark Ryden Paintings

Our last piece of business to close out our coverage of this year’s Baby Tattooville is to show you the glorious sight that greeted attendees at brunch on Sunday, the morning after the once-in-a-lifetime experience of the Surrealist Ball hosted by Mark Ryden and Marion Peck. Lined up neatly on tables at the front of the room were original monochromatic paintings from Ryden that were used for the art on the special plate (seen right below) used by guests the night before at the event. Each little original was given […]

Logan Hicks and Beau Stanton have been working diligently for their coming two person pop up show that opens tomorrow night at the Highline Loft in New York’s Chelsea art district. Curated by Lori Zimmer & Natalie Kates, the show entitled Calm Before the Storm takes inspiration from classic nautical superstition, flood myths, historic compositions of life changing events and even references the modern issue of rising waters of the world’s waterways. Both artists have created new paintings and multiples, along with a site-specific installation of […]

At the beginning of the month, Spoke Art in San Francisco introduced new works from Stella Im Hultberg (interviewed) in her first solo in four years. Entitled Stranger, the very floral new body of work encompassed many different mediums including oil paintings, loosely rendered watercolor, india ink sketches, as well as sculpture. The fresh imagery is inspired by the changes in her life, with being a new parent being the most obvious. She further explains – “There was a lot of ‘heaviness of love’ that I felt since becoming a parent, […]

Streets: Luke Chueh / Murals In The Market (Detroit)

Last month, as part of the Murals In the Market festival, Luke Chueh (interviewed) painted a rare public arts mural in Detroit’s Eastern Market. The Los Angeles-based painter decided to go with an image inspired by his thoughts of the Motor City as being the home of house music and DJ culture as we know it. For fans of Chueh’s sad bear series of works, The Soundtrack (To My Life) is certainly instantly recognizable and striking in large scale form. Featured artists also include: 2501, Askew, Beau Stanton, Brian Lacey, Denial, Ellen […]
