Videos: Armsrock – “Passage / Works” Installation @ LYSYD

Danish artist Armsrock (interviewed) recently participated in the Lightsound Project (LYSYD) in Copenhagen which included his usual life-size drawings and some fantastic light projection pieces (runs till the end of the month). If you recall, he also recently created some similar pieces for this year’s GLOW. Kai Schwenck recently put together an interesting video (seen above) documenting the entire process. It’s been a big couple of months for Faile. With so much going on, such as their collaborative show with BAST in London and their 10-year retrospective at Lazarides Gallery, AM is still trying to catch up with the scorching hot collective. We recently made the trip to Beverly Hills to view “Meet Me Inside” (previewed), a group show at Gagosian Gallery, to check out their wood puzzle pieces, as well as other spectacular art work by Gagosian’s A-list artists. Openings: Kaws @ Galeria Javíer López

It looks like KAWS traveled to Spain for the opening of his latest show (previewed) at Galería Javier López in Madrid. Three fresh canvases were on display along with a cool purple bronze. For this new body of work, Brian continues to explore his monotone technique in large paintings of SpongeBob varations and also a surprise return to his iconic Chum in one piece. Our friends over at Babelgum have put together a nice video about the “Faile Bast Deluxx Fluxx Arcade” show that we covered last week at Lazarides. Bast and the Patricks were both interviewed about the creative process behind the show among other things. Preview: Hush & Opus Gallery @ Scope NYC

Armory Week is just around the corner and we have a little peek of what’s coming for the Scope Art Fair in NYC. Hush (interviewed) will be premiering a new Geisha painting with Opus Art and it looks rad. Usually we see him utilizing a manga-esque girl, but this time Hush switches it up with a more realistic approach to his signature style. More after the jump.

Upper Playground has just announced a surprise print release produced in conjunction with SA Studios and the Weinstein Company. “The Lost Art of Inglorious Basterds” will feature some of the heaviest hitters from the UP roster, including David Choe (featured), Alex Pardee, Jeremy Fish (featured) Sam Flores and many, many more. Mark Ryden is set to open his new show “The Gay 90’s” in Chelsea’s Paul Kasmin Gallery at the end of April.
