Releases: Dan May – “Road Trippin'” Print

On May 12th, this Thursday (12pm EST), Dan May (interviewed) will be releasing a new print entitled Road Trippin’ featuring some of his signature hairy critters going for a ride. Originally part of his Gentle Creatures print subscription but a few will be made available in his online shop. Produced in an edition of 50, and measuring 14″ X 11″, you can purchase one to add to your collection for $65 if so desired. Discuss Dan May here.

Returning to Jonathan LeVine Gallery after a successful showing there in 2013 (covered), Mike Leavitt (interviewed) will be presenting a new body of work come May 14th. Entitled King Cuts, the new sculptures focus on renowned directors, molded in a way that recalls some of their most famous movies. On June 11th, Adda Gallery in Brussels will be opening a solo show by the Dran. Famous as one of the founding members of Da Mental Vaporz crew as well as for his satirical drawings and paintings, the French artist’s exhibition will be entitled Tiens. While in town for his current solo show in Mexico City at Fifty24MX, Ericailcane found time to make his mark on the urban environment. Painted in his recognizable illustrative style, the new mural from the Italian artist features a fox and a rabbit entwined in branches. Cleverly utilizing the architectural connecting structures between his two anthropomorphic animal subjects, he shows once again why he’s considered one of the most skilled street artists out there today. Returning to Brooklyn’s Grumpy Bert after a showing there last year, Deth P. Sun will be this time teaming up with Gemma Correll for a joint exhibition. For his part, Sun will be contributing more acrylic on wood paintings of his cat-like adventurer, rendered in vivd colors. Mier Gallery in West Hollywood is currently showing the first solo exhibition of Los Angeles-based artist Louise Bonnet. The exhibition simply titled Paintings opened on April 23rd and will stay on view through June 4th. The show includes six large paintings and several drawings on paper showing Bonnet’s recognizable visual language and imagery. Her cartoon-like characters with no facial expressions feature exaggerated proportions of body parts that instead convey feelings of melancholy, nostalgia, and displacement. After a look at what Saner painted for the Jidar Urban Art Festival in Morocco, we now turn our attention to the contribution by DEIH. The wall in Rabat was transformed by the Spanish street artist in his typical comic-inspired style and can be found in in Jacob Mansoir for those in the area. Ruttkowski;68 in Cologne, Germany is currently showing I can’t look at your face anymore, a solo by Pieter Janssen aka Parra. For his second exhibition with the gallery, the Dutch artist, illustrator and designer created an all new body of work consisting of canvases, sculptures and objects.
