Basel Week Miami ’14: Pryce Lee @ Untitled. (Anonymous Gallery)

While taking in the art at the Untitled. art fair (covered) in Miami, we stopped by the booth from Mexico City’s Anonymous Gallery to check out a few works from Pryce Lee. Along with pairing an open cage with one of his “bird hitting the window” works, the artist who balances his time between New York and the UK also contributed one of his signature bullet pieces, but this time incorporating an aquarium. See all our coverage of Basel Week Miami here. Discuss Pryce Lee here.

Showing: visualSKIN – “Ghost Ship” @ Amsterdam Light Festival

For the newest edition of the Amsterdam Light Festival showing through January 18th, the four person Romania-based architecture collective visualSKIN have created a stunning installation entitled Ghost Ship. Projecting the image of a 17th century onto two perpendicular curtains of weather, the piece references the rich maritime history of Netherlands’ capital city. Those in town can see this colorful replica of the famous Dutch East India Company ship that started its maiden voyage to Batavia in 1749 in person in front of the ARCAM Amsterdam Center for Architecture and The National Maritime […]

Basel Week Miami ’14 / Streets: Case (Miami)

Along with a permanent mural at the prestigious Wynwood Walls complex, German street artist case (aka Andreas von Chrzanowski) also made time to paint this beautiful piece in the surrounding area. Dedicated to the courageous Tuğçe Albayrak who was beaten to death just because she tried to save two other girls from beeing molested by some thugs, the wall certainly stood out with the Maclaim crew member’s signature use of hand imagery and photorealistic spray can skills. Take a look at more detailed photos below… See all our […]

Jen Stark For Miami International Airport

Versatile artist Jen Stark certainly kept busy with her art visible at various venues during Basel Week Miami, including showing at the Untitled. art fair (covered). Before leaving town, she also completed a large scale public mural at the Miami International Airport located at Terminal D & E (3rd level), just off the moving skywalk. It’s a permanent installation so next time you are in town, make sure you stop by. Photo credit: Peter Vahan. Discuss Jen Stark here.

Releases: Yoshitomo Nara – “Drawings: 1984-2013” Book

Published in conjunction with his amazing recent showing (covered) at Blum & Poe in Los Angeles, Drawings: 1984-2013 is the latest book in a long line of publications from Yoshitomo Nara. Those that attended that exhibition may remember an intriguing chronological survey of the Japanese artist’s drawings in the upstairs gallery which showed the evolution of his imagery over the years. Fans can now experience some of this themselves in this 240 page volume packed with “reproductions of early works never publicly exhibited and omitted from the […]

Upcoming: KMNDZ – “I’d Rather Love You” @ Merry Karnowsky Gallery

After showing with Merry Karnowsky in 2012 (covered), Johnny Rodriguez (aka KMNDZ) will be back on February 7th with another solo show. I’d Rather Love You will feature imagery that we have come to love from the Los Angeles-based artist featuring an interplay of intricately detailed birds, bombs, flowers, jewels, numerology and other paraphernalia rendered in a rust-colored palette. In the works is also a massive 8 feet painting that will serve as the centerpiece of the exhibition. Discuss KMNDZ here.
