Openings: Futura, Matta, Phase 2 & Rammellzee – “Deep Space” @ Joseph Nahmad

Joseph Nahmad, known for his pop-up events, recently presented a group show in New York’s Meatpacking district with Nemo Librizzi (who curated Futura’s recent showing at Valmorbida). Entitled Deep Space, this exhibition featured four noted street & graffiti legends Futura, Phase 2, Matta and Rammellzee. Using an interesting approach, this show was not just a collection of freshly made works but was instead a mini survey of old and new works from each of the four artists. The exhibition examined the historical journey of each artist and […]

Openings: Ron English – “Crucial Fiction” @ Opera Gallery (New York)

The master of “Popaganda” has been a busy man lately. After an epic four story mural in Manhattan, Ron English (featured) unveiled a fresh body of works at New York’s Opera Gallery entitled Crucial Fiction. This new series took a shot at the commercialization of our pop culture and  it was great to see Ron working his incredible mix of wit and painting technique as no topic was held sacred. From Captain Crunch & Mickey Mouse to the Rolling Stones & The Incredible Hulk, Mr. English had ideas of […]

El Mac x Adobe Campus (Utah)

The Los-Angeles based El Mac recently took another trip to the American Southwest (also see New Mexico) where he worked on a new project in Utah. This mural, created in his signature style, was completed on the Adobe campus just south of Salt Lake City and was organized by the RAPT Studio out of SF. If you look closely, you can see the faint tracings of binary code in the background. Check the details below… Portraits of the artist by Weston Colton, all other photos via the […]

Doktor A – “Postcard from New Yorkshire” @ MPH

From his beginnings as one of the most highly sought after art toy customizers out there, the UK-based Doktor A has progressed to producing his own sculptural creations, which was only natural if anyone has ever seen his work. For his recent showing in New York at My Plastic Heart, entitled Postcard from New Yorkshire, his full talents were on display with figures created in his robotic steampunk aesthetic with a fine attention to detail.  More photos below… Discuss Doktor A here.

The kinetic works in the exhibition burst with energy and sharp colors and represent the fine technical skill and expressive cosmic imagination of each artist. Check out some of the pieces in the […]

Openings: Tiffany Bozic – “Transformation” @ Joshua Liner Gallery

If you have never seen the work of Tiffany Bozic in person, then there is no better time than the present. Her solo show Transformation sprawled through-out the Joshua Liner Gallery this past month and will run through December 1st. Tiffany has devoted her young life nerding out on the intricacies of nature. Not just on a recreational level, but scientifically as well, no doubt drawing inspiration from her specimen studies at the the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco where she now resides. Given the […]

Streets: Mike Stilkey (Los Angeles)

Mike Stilkey sent us some flicks of a recent mural he painted in Los Angeles. The 13 x 14 foot mural was painted outside of a photography studio in La Brea. We like how this furry guy brightens up his new home, and how his camera nods towards what’s inside the premises. Stilkey’s murals never fail to disappoint! Discuss Mike Stilkey here.

Openings: JonOne – “A Beautiful Madness” @ Fabien Castanier Gallery

Earlier this month, the Fabien Castanier Gallery presented the first solo exhibition in the United States from JonOne entitled A Beautiful Madness. Although raised in New York where he laid his graffiti roots in Harlem, JonOne has lived in Paris since the mid 1980s where he has established himself as a fine artist. His imagery, as seen in this new work, is characterized by an abstract and energetic form of expression leading to compositions full of freestyle strokes, movement, and color. The exhibition runs through December 2nd, so […]
