Last Saturday night, Mel Kadel unveiled new works for her Stuck On A Wave solo during an opening reception at the Merry Karnowsky Gallery. Showing alongside the cosmic and pattered work of Mark Whalen, the Los Angeles-based Kadel’s imagery also featured patterns of her own, oftentimes backdrops of collaged repeating elements for her characters to play in. Currently at the two locations of the Lisson Gallery in London, Anish Kapoor has gathered a comprehensive collection of his recent works for a showing that will run through November 10th. On Saturday night, the Known Gallery in Los Angeles hosted a private release party for Hello Kitty, Hello Art!, a book compiling artwork inspired by Sanrio characters. As we mentioned last month, Shepard Fairey (featured) will be opening a show at the StolenSpace Gallery in London entitled Sound and Vision. Looks like he made an early trek across the pond to work on some large-scale public murals of his distinctive imagery including this new piece on Ebor Street in East London. Tomorrow night, Mark Whalen (featured) will be unveiling all new works at the Merry Karnowksy Gallery. Earlier this week, we shared some photos of the paintings from the current Todd James (aka REAS) exhibition, Free To be You & Me, at V1 Gallery in Copenhagen. Last week, Brett Amory’s latest effort, Twenty-Four in San Francisco, was put on display at Sandra Lee Gallery located in San Francisco’s Union Square (see the studio preview here).
