Upcoming: Tim Biskup – “SPRING COLLECTION” @ FACE GUTS

On April 7th (6-10pm), Tim Biskup (featured) will be opening his SPRING COLLECTION show at FACE GUTS. Held at the Los Angeles-based artist’s gallery, workshop, and project space (4136 1/2 Verdugo Road), the exhibition will feature new paintings, tote bags, sweatshirts, handmade risograph zines, among other things. After sharing one of the pieces yesterday that Pejac painted while in New York recently, we now have photos of the other brilliant piece he created in Bushwick (27 Scott Ave). Entitled Fossil, the mural really shows off the skills of the Spanish artist in creating optical illusions. Opening tonight at the 976 Madison Avenue location of Gagosian Gallery in New York will be the first survey of prints from Jonas Wood. Drawing from over fifty limited edition prints produced between 2004 and 2018, the exhibition will have the Los Angeles-based artist’s oeuvre well represented from ceramics that are often based on the work of his wife, sculptor Shio Kusaka, to the sports inspired pieces, to the domestic landscapes of plants, everyday objects, and vases. After an earlier peek at the exquisite stain glass works for James Jean’s (interviewed) solo opening tomorrow night (April 6th) in Tokyo at Kaikai Kiki Gallery, here are some more tantalizing looks at the new body of work entitled Azimuth. While in Asia for back to back openings in Japan (covered) and Hong Kong (covered), KAWS also had a project he was working on in Los Angeles. Last month, Bill Brady in Miami opened a solo exhibition from Michael Kagan (featured) entitled We Have Felt The Ground Shake. For his first showing with the gallery, the Brookyln-based artist presented a new selection of his signature astronaut paintings, rendered with a loose touch. Following up on the introduction of his Postneocubism body of work in Paris last June (covered), Miguel Ángel Belinchón aka Belin recently opened his Asian debut show with Amanda Wei Gallery in Hong Kong. Fazes features a new series of canvases done in the Spanish artist’s signature style, along with new pieces introducing more drawing-based, abstract pieces.
