For the film poster collectors out there, Mondo will be releasing their Cowboys & Aliens series today at a random time. One of the artists tapped to design one of them for the possibly soon to be cult classic is none other than Daniel Danger (interviewed) who is currently showing in NY (covered). Streets: Blu for “Draw The Line Festival” (Italy)

Continuing to tear through Europe (Bologna, Palestra, Jesi, Krakow, Poznań, Fabriano, Cologne, Grottaglie, Valencia, Italy) at a torrid pace since March, Blu has hit up his home country again at the Draw The Line Festival in Campobasso, Italy. This new wall caused some initial controversy, of which the Italian street artist is not unfamiliar with after the MOCA incident, and features his views on war and a biting rendition of how the military produces their soldiers. Openings: Chet Zar – “Faces of Death” @ Last Rites Gallery

Last Friday night in New York, Chet Zar (interviewed) unveiled his latest series of work enititled Faces of Death at the Last Rites Gallery. The nightmarish portraits were quite striking in their custom frames and featured creatures from Chet’s imagination that we wouldn’t want to meet in a dark alley, and for that matter not in the day time either. AM was in Sheffield last weekend for the official opening of Kid Acne’s three month run of the Kill Your Darlings solo exhibition at Sheffield Museum’s Millenium Gallery. The exhibition is his first solo show in his now-base of Sheffield, and as it’s hard to walk around the city without catching a glimpse of his outdoor murals and graffiti, it made a nice change to see some of his work in an indoor setting in South Yorks. The exhibition serves as a retrospective of sorts as he […]

Anthony Michael Sneed recently opened his solo exhibition Grand Illusion at San Francisco’s Shooting Gallery. The New York based artist has been previously known for his humorous works of retro 8-bit video game iconography, but this body of work is an elevation into a new level of abstraction and color theory. Utilizing simple palettes with detailed premeditated placement, Anthony created works that renders fantastic optical illusions in both 2-D and 3-D. This Saturday night, July 30th, Femke Hiemstra will be joining Audrey Kawasaki, whose works we previewed yesterday, and Deedee Cheriel for a show at Merry Karnowsky Gallery. Known for her detailed paintings (often on found objects) of her cast of animal characters set in surreal scenes and compositions, the Dutch painter will be taking viewers of this new body of work on a fairytale journey into mythical worlds of her imagination.
