Video: “Buff Monster Does Hollywood”

Last week, we brought you some photos of Buff Monster (featured) working on a spot above Hollywood Boulevard with pink paint and wheatpaste. Now comes footage of him in action leaning over the edge of the roof as well as a closer look at the “10 Years” stencil, a reference to the 10th anniversary of drawing his first signature character. Interview: Kid Acne – ‘Kill Your Darlings’ @ Millenium Gallery

South Yorks represent! Kid Acne’s solo exhibition Kill Your Darlings launches this Friday 22nd July at Museums-Sheffield’s Millenium Gallery. A long time resident of Sheffield, this is surprisingly Kid Acne’s first solo exhibit in the city, and follows a pair of solo exhibitions in London at Concrete Hermit and Stolenspace over the last year. Streets: ROA (Berlin)

Belgium-based ROA was recently in Berlin for a solo showing (covered) and of course, he couldn’t leave town without painting some walls. The massive project came together with the help of KJOSK & Skalitzers and features some of his signature imagery of creatures hung up and stacked together. Friday evening, AM decided to duck the over-hyped oncoming threats of Los Angeles’ “Carmageddon” to check out the opening of legendary pop artist COOP’s show Idle Hands at Corey Helford Gallery. Streets: RETNA @ West Hollywood Library Project (Part I)

Drawing comparisons to his recent mural at the Pasadena Museum of California Art for the Street Cred exhibition (covered), RETNA (featured) lent his street calligraphy to an ambitious new project with Kenny Scharf and Shepard Fairey in Los Angeles. Phil Noto – “New Machines” @ Bold Hype

This past spring, comic artist Phil Noto exhibited a nice show at New York’s Bold Hype Gallery. The body of work entitled New Machines comprised of over thirty fresh works with Noto’s dose of 60s & 70s retro style & flare. With much of the subject matter focusing on his refined females in many familiar nostalgic surroundings, we found ourselves thoroughly enjoying his fine art work. Check it all out after the jump.
