Streets: Sea Walls: Murals for Oceans – Mexico Expedition

A couple of weeks ago Pangeaseed.org wrapped up another praiseworthy project on the island of Isla Mujeres, Mexico – Sea Walls: Murals for Oceans – Mexico Expedition. For this event that took place from July 20-28, they invited a group of international artists to help raise awareness for the conservation of the ocean.  Similar to what they did with POW! WOW! The lineup, curated by Roland Henry and VNA Magazine, featured Mark Lyken, Inkie, Pam Glew, Fran Bosoletti, Will Barras, Eine, Steff Plaetz, Nick Walker, O. Previews: MyFinBec 2014 Show @ Ruttkowski;68

From the 15th till 19th of August, gallery Ruttkowski;68 in Cologne will be showing the new works from this year’s MyFinBec project. The annual series organized by the winery Cave Fin Bec in Switzerland commissions artists to create wine labels for their special limited edition organic wine. This year’s lineup included VHILS from Portugal, Herakut from Germany, C215 from France, and Etam Cru from Poland. In every instance, eight different labels were painted on stacks of 84 crates each. Showing: André @ Museum of Design and Fashion (Lisbon)

Paris-based street artist André Saraiva opened a showing at the Museum of Design and Fashion (MUDE) in Lisbon last month. Featuring one of the most recognizable characters in the street art world, an exuberant stick-figure alter ego, Mr. A, as well as many other aspects of his career spanning graffiti, painting, street art, installation, sculpture and film, the exhibition is a retrospective (open through Sept. 28) that brings the artist of Portuguese origin back to his roots.Take a look at the diverse collection of works below… Photo credit: Stick2Target.

Upcoming: Bruno 9li – “Materia Radiante” @ David B. Smith Gallery

Coming up on Thursday, August 14th, Bruno Novelli (aka Bruno 9li) will be opening his first solo show with David B. Smith Gallery in Denver. We have not been following the São Paulo-base artist of late, but the new works entitled Materia Radiante drew our attention with the use of vibrant colors and geometric forms inspired by long walks in the rainforests of his native county. Streets: ABOVE – 46 shutters in 48 hours (London)

Prolific Bay Area bomber ABOVE (interviewed) recently completed a marathon session in London at the Chrisp Street Market in Poplar over the weekend. Using over 100 cans of spray paint while making his mark on 46 shutters in a span of 48 hours, ABOVE surely came close to some sort of record while covering over 19 shop fronts with his iconic arrow motif.
