Structures: Boris “Delta” Tellegen (Netherlands) – Part I

For those familiar with his work, the pieces from Boris “Delta” Tellegen, whether on the streets or in galleries, are very structural in nature. Interestingly, he has taken the architectural elements to his craft and applied them to the facade of a building in Harleem in the Netherlands. Commissioned by Ymere, a social housing company, the new housing block will feature Tellegen’s special post-graffiti aesthetic in the form of the pattern and shape of brickwork and windows on its surface. Take a look at the plans and […]

Italian artist Moneyless aka Teo Pirisi opens his first solo exhibition of 2013 on home turf at Rome’s 999 Contemporary Gallery. Entitled ALEA IACTA EST, the translation for those non-fluent in Latin is ‘The Die Has Been Cast’. A bold statement, but Moneyless’ art provides affirmation of his voice within the contemporary art scene. The fluidity of his work is wonderful, and a joy to view up close and personal. Spirographic patterns blend colour and form on beautifully crafted wooden panels. Delicate ink and acrylic washes reveal […]

Previews: Casey Gray – ‘Tropic’ @ White Walls

Bay Area artist Casey Gray is set to open his third solo exhibition with SF gallery White Walls on October 12th. The show is entitled Tropic, and  looks to be packed with imagery that conjures up the scent of pina coladas and coconut oil. We’ve watched Casey’s work develop over the last few years and these boldly composed still life stencils look to be executed with a new level of mastery of his chosen technique. Definitely one to catch if you are in the Bay Area.

Openings: Ludo – “Destructionis Hostis Vespa” @ White Walls

Last weekend, White Walls in San Francisco hosted the opening for Ludo’s (interviewed) new solo show. Entitled Destructionis Hostis Vespa, the exhibition is named for a creature from the Parisian street artist’s Nature’s Revenge series or works – a cross between a combat airplane and a wasp. Displayed in sculptural form as well as with paintings from multiple angles, blue prints if you will, the entire show was able to present a cohesive feel to it and also gave striking examples of Ludo’s work.
