Preview: Meggs – “Heavenly Creatures” @ Thinkspace

Streets: Momo (Jamaica)

The geometrically-inclined Momo has spent the last several weeks working in Jamaica on various mural projects. He certainly looked like he was having a good time along with partner in crime Angelo (Fame Festival), and their stay there was quite productive also judging from various large to medium-sized walls that were painted on the streets as well as indoors. Preview: Keith Haring Retrospective – “The Political Line” @ MAM Paris

Later this month (April 19th), the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris (MAM) will be hosting a massive retrospective for the late, great Keith Haring. Almost 250 paintings on canvas and tarpaulins and from subway walls, as well as twenty monumental works, will be on display forming one of the largest presentations of the iconic artist’s work. Releases: ROA – “SK8room Skatedecks”

Belgium-based ROA, who recently had a solo showing in his home country (covered), has also been working on a project with SK8room. The set of three decks (Decay 1, 2, & 3) featuring the street artist’s anatomical style are the result of  a trip to Cambodia, to meet the guys from Skateistan (20% of sales go to them) in Phnom Penh, a not-for-profit organization that teaches empowerment through skateboarding to children in impoverished countries. Upcoming: Nychos – “Pellis Os Omentum” @ Galo Art Gallery

After seeing Austrian painter Nychos’ work in person in Hawaii recently (here & here), we developed a better appreciation for his painterly technique. He now has a new solo show opening up on April 13th at the Galo Art Gallery in Torino, Italy entitled Pellis Os Omentum. Studio Visit: Mark Whalen – “Maze Walkers” @ Chalk Horse (Sydney)

Mark Whalen’s new solo show, Maze Walkers, just opened at Chalk Horse in Sydney, Australia. His latest body of work displays his hand-painted gridded environments with some new stylistic directions. Working with themes of geometry, ritual, science, and sport, Whalen’s work continues to increase in complexity in both narrative and composition, but with a focused clarity that is well suited to his signature style. In tune with his recurring theme of modern mythology are some porcelain vessels adorned with his stylized figures in cobalt blue. […]

Streets: Ludo (France)

After a bit of traveling, LUDO (interviewed) appears to have spent a good part of last month back in his home country of France. Continuing his series of street works – Nature’s Revenge – the French artist keeps creative modifying creatures and plants for war with humans.
