After sharing with you something we quite liked from Aakash Nihalani that he did for the Nuart Festival earlier this year, we were pleased to see that he has expanded on that piece in a series of works. After meeting up with DALeast & his wife and fellow street artist Faith47 during Basel Week Miami, we would be remiss to not mention his concurrent and current showing at Jonathan LeVine Gallery. POWDER of LIGHT ends this weekend at the New York showspace, but those that stop by will be rewarded by the Chinese-born, South Africa-based artist’s imagery created in his signature style of swirling vortexes of organic black lines. Brooklyn certainly seems to be getting their fair share of high-profile art projects recently. After Barry McGee’s large scale mural (covered here & here) in October at the Mark Morris Dance Group, the borough will will now see the work of José Parlá adorn the new home of the Brooklyn Nets – The Barclays Center. It was -25°C in Moscow recently, but that didn’t stop 0331c and his friends from holding their own celebration of the holiday season with the creation of a graffiti Xmas tree on the side of a building. One of the most prolific street artists out there, Escif, apparently hasn’t taken Christmas off. He’s been on a roll as of late with increasingly more edgy and political imagery (for example here & here), not surprising as the depressing situation in Spain is fertile ground for inspiration.
