Currently showing at Fondation Beyeler is the first exhibition ever devoted by a Swiss museum to American artist Jeff Koons. There’s also a huge flower sculpture, Split Rocker, in the garden of the museum. This video from Vernissage TV boasts footage of the entire show as well as a talk with curator Dr. Theodora Vischer. Detroit Beautification Project

A project that was first hinted at here appears to have come to fruition in the Motor City. We have already shared works from Sever and Reyes for the Detroit Beautification Project, but now we have a closer look at the multitude of artists (many of them MSK affiliated) and the murals they painted centered mostly in Hamtramck. Selected photos include more from Reyes, Revok (seen above), 123Klan, Askew, Dabs Myla, Tristan Eaton, RISK, and Flying Fortress. For those interested, also check out a video […]

Video: Mear One – “Snow White and the Huntsman” Mural

To promote the upcoming release of Snow White and the Huntsman, a pop-up gallery has opened in Los Angeles (7710 Melrose Aveneue). Along with costumes from Colleen Atwood, the film’s Oscar-winning designer, fans will also be greeted by a mural from Mear One (interviewed). The unique 12 foot piece featuring a moonlit forest scene is painted entirely on a mirror with some of it drifting onto the surrounding walls. Take a look below as Mear talks about his process and his thoughts behind this piece. […]

Studio Visits: Nick Walker – “TMA Paris” Print

Throughout the past year we’ve been liaising with British artist Nick Walker as he worked on a vandal theme with a Paris focus. From accompanying him on Paris rooftops to get some inspiration, to following the different steps of the creative process, it’s been a very exciting journey and we’re glad to be able to share some behind the scene pics. The Morning After Paris print will be a very limited edition, available in person only at Opera Gallery Paris on June 23rd at 2PM – […]

Streets: ROA (Vienna)

After a showing last August at INOPERAbLE in Vienna, ROA has been invited back by the gallery to paint a massive 23 m wall in the city center. The Belgium anatomical street specialist decided to render a beautiful collage of local birdlife on a wall in the 9th district that dwarfed the mural he painted at the showspace last time. Discuss ROA here.

Update: Banksy

The ever elusive Banksy has recently updated his website with some new “indoor” work with pieces that seem destined for some gallery show, museum, or private collection. Also new were some confirmations of outdoor stencils that has popped up recently including the “child labor” piece that appeared in London a couple weeks ago as well as some work that hadn’t appeared on the interwebs yet. Discuss Banksy here.

Streets: Flying Fortress x Nychos (Dublin)

Last weekend in Dublin, Flying Fortress and Nychos collaborated on a sweet mural for the All City Tivoli Jam. This isn’t the first time the two have worked together if you remember the piece they painted several months ago in Vienna entitled “The Anatomy of Mother Bear Giving Birth” when FF visited his friend Austrian friend. This time around, the Fortress’ signature character is again dissected in Nychos’ distinctive style. Discuss Flying Fortress here.
