Setup: Mostly Memory @ Thinkspace Gallery

Last night, AM stopped by Thinkspace to check out the setup for Mostly Memory (previewed) featuring Armsrock and Elbow-Toe, opening this Friday, December 12th @ 7pm. As we left the gallery, we noticed that Elbow-Toe had already made sure Los Angeles knew he was in town by “getting up” with a couple of wheatpastes. Check out these photos and the rest of the setup after the jump.

According to Dazed Digital, JR and Matt Small picked up the top prizes at the first annual Street Art Awards, held in London last Thursday night. JR deservingly won in the best street art category for his amazing photo installation 28 Millimeters: Women, for which he turned the houses of Rio’s favelas into a crowd of faces looking down from the city’s hills. Great pictures of the work can be seen here. Matt Small won in the best urban art category. The event also included […]

He will also be participating in the “12 Days of Xmas“ show coming up in Bristol this Friday (image of his piece for that as well as studio pics after the jump).

Preview: This is China show

Although we have been enamored with Japanese artists for a while now, recently we have been increasingly interested in the Chinese art scene.  It seems more and more intriguing artists are popping up on various sites…  If you add to that, the fact that western artists seem to be showing more in Asia, the time seems ripe for the kind of crossover show that is opening this weekend in Seattle. “This is China” (teased), put together by Red Star Press at the location formerly known […]

Thinkspace has been very busy. First, their stellar lineup at the Gen Arts fair at Basel Week, (here) then right back in LA with a new show: Mostly Memory. This exhibit showcases two talented urban artists: Armsrock (Denmark) and Elbow-Toe (NYC).  We have no doubt the gallery will be transformed with some crazy installations that are already in progress.  Make sure you don’t miss the opening reception on Friday, Dec 12th (7-11pm). Thanks to Thinkspace/Sour Harvest, we gathered some preview images of their work for […]

Gen Art Vanguard – Basel Party

Friday night ended with a bang at the OBEY x Z Trip party. But AM never told the tale of how this massive night of Basel parties started. The Gen Art Vanguard party was the Basel Friday night jumpoff where the “who’s who” of Miami were at. With heavy hitter sponsors such as FAGE, Citibank, and Bombay Sapphire footing the bill for drinks, Gen Art Vanguard was transformed into a true Miami mega event.  Stars and artists lined up to grab their VIP goodie bags while everyone else […]

POW Open Day (Part II)

Those who did not get enough of POW the first day went back for day two of the POW Open Day event. The second visit allowed more time to take photos of art and merchandise for sale.  Probably the highlight was this Banksy canvas.  More detailed pics of this as well as other work for sale after the jump.

Obey x Z Trip Basel Party @ Shore Club

Already revved up from the Gen Art Vanguard Gala (Here)… Friday night got even more crazy as DJ Diabetic and Ztrip tag teamed the turntables for a packed Shore Club in South Beach. Shepard gave back in his usual gracious fashion as he threw a party for all his friends and fans. The party was super packed but security kept it cool and managed the crazy crowd wait to see Shepard and Ztrip. Once inside, the vibe was amazing. Numerous peeps were in attendance: Jose Parla, […]
