Streets: Conor Harrington // London Mural Festival

Right on the heels of a recently finished mural from D*Face, Conor Harrington (interviewed) has completed his contribution to the first ever London Mural Festival. Touching on themes of nationalism, the Irish-born artist goes big with his familiar flag and colonial imagery in Greenwich (71 Trafalgar Rd, SE10 9TS) with this new wall. Just a 10 minute bike ride from his home, Harrington really did a phenomenal job with palette and details of this piece… Photos via Global Street Art & @streetartatlas. Streets / Videos: Xenz – “Concrete Jungle” (Oslo)

Recently in the Sandvika, Norway, Xenz was invited in to create a delightful new installation on some concrete columns under a railway bridge featuring his distinctive birds and butterflies. Completed over the course of five days, the Concrete Jungle was brought to life with the British artist’s colorful trompe-l’œil technique and gave him a chance to point out unexpected parallels between the Impressionst and graffiti movement. He further explains – “Putting paint in tubes gave the Impressionists the opportunity to work en plein air for the first time. In […]

Streets: D*Face // London Mural Festival

With the global pandemic starting to loosen its grip on some areas of the world, it’s nice to see artists out painting walls again. Streets: Nuart Aberdeen 2020 – Lock Down Past Up

Attending every edition of the festival since the inaugural 2017, we were very much looking forward to reuniting with our Nuart family for the fourth edition of now indefinitely postponed Nuart Aberdeen 2020 Festival. But, as it was to be expected with the event and the group of people around it, simply canceling and giving up on the dream wasn’t an option. After digitally launching Nuart Journal: Issue IV earlier this month (covered), they recently released Nuart’s Lockdown, Paste Up project which enables the cast of international artists […]

Upcoming: Nuart Aberdeen 2020

EDIT: “Following the recommendations of governmental agencies, the decision has been taken to postpone the Nuart Aberdeen festival until further notice. For the fourth consecutive […]

Streets: Meggs (Melbourne)

Recently completed at the La Trobe University in Melbourne, Megg’s new piece utilizes his signature blue and red palette to perfection. Inspired by “the constant growth and flow of natural elements and creative ideas,” the Australian-born artist included native Eucalyptus, a Wedge Tailed Eagle feather, a duck feather, and a charred leaf in the composition. The mural expertly navigates some unique architectural components, blending in nicely with the interiors of the place of higher learning. Photo credit: Lloyd Knowles. Discuss Meggs here.

Streets: Bushfire Brandalism (Australia)

Last week, a new public art initiative took place on the streets of Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane, when 41 Australian artists brandalized or replaced 78 advertising posters with bespoke thought-provoking images and messages. Following the ongoing efforts initiated by now international movement Brandalism, the newly installed images speak to the current climate crisis seen via devastating drought and unprecedented bush fires. As a direct reaction to the feelings of hopelessness and powerlessness experienced nationwide in recent weeks, the posters promote direct access to relevant information with over […]

Streets: Invader (Djerba)

Timed perfectly with the release of Episode IX of Star Wars, French artist Invader recently revealed his first invasion of Djerba. Out of the of 58 pieces he put up on the Tunisian island, several movie-themed mosaics referenced the fact that the first film had a few scenes filmed there. Adding to the nostalgia was the fact infamous street artist was able to hunt down and get up pieces on the actual house where the Star Wars scene with the bar full of aliens was shot where […]
