After bringing you a look inside the Cyrcle. (featured) studio as they prepped for their Montreal solo, we now have some photos from the opening to share with you. Nothing Exists at Station16 Gallery (showing through July 4th) features the Los Angeles duo’s new works explore themes of themes of religion, science, and duality with their signature design aesthetic. After bringing you a look at SCOPE Basel, we now turn our attention to the VOLTA. Moving back to the center of the city at the venue Markthalle, their 11th year at Basel Week Switzerland sees the art fair continuing to focus on mainly solo exhibitions from artists at their gallery booths like Mark Stone for The Hole Gallery (seen above). With the art world focused in on the festivities in Switzerland, we start our coverage of Art Basel Week with a feature on SCOPE. Celebrating nine years in Basel, the fair returns to its pioneering location at Basel’s New Art District on the Rhine. Recap: Gary Baseman – “Happy Toby To You” @ Time Square Hong Kong

Continuing to spread his pervasive imagery to Asia (also see Shanghai & Taipei), Gary Baseman’s (interviewed) recent project saw him celebrating his iconic Toby character’s 10th birthday in Hong Kong. Held at the busy Time Square complex in Causeway Bay, the installation (arranged by LeBasse Projects) featured a dinner party for his faithful companion as well as photo exhibition of their travels together. Audrey Kawasaki, Andrew Hem, Mari Inukai Murals @ Worcester Museum (Part II)

After sharing some in-progress shots of the murals going up at the Worcester Art Museum in Massachusetts in association with the Samurai! show (co-curated by Eric Nakamura, editor and founder of Giant Robot Magazine), we now have a look at the finished walls. Audrey Kawasaki took the high road painting one of her beauties on the second floor balcony of the Lancaster Lobby while Mari Inukai went underneath her, also making a play on the Japanese-themed exhibition with her imagery. Audrey Kawasaki, Andrew Hem, Mari Inukai Murals @ Worcester Museum (Part I)

With the Samurai! show (co-curated by Eric Nakamura, editor and founder of Giant Robot Magazine) at the Worcester Art Museum in Massachusetts now open to the public, the artists invited to paint murals for the exhibition were able to start their efforts last week. One of the artists invited, Andrew Hem, has created large scale public art in the past, but the other two, Audrey Kawasaki and Mari Inukai were not as experienced with mural painting. Upcoming: Gary Baseman – “Happy Toby To You” @ Time Square Hong Kong

On May 21st, Hong Kong’s Time Square will be welcoming in another artist (see Mike Stilkey and Yoskay Yamamoto) to create an installation arranged by LeBasse Projects at the mall complex in Causeway Bay. In celebration of his character Toby’s 10th birthday, Gary Baseman’s (interviewed) faithful companion will be part of a new sculptural installation set up as a birthday party with his dear friends. On 9th of May, another edition of the Venice Biennale will be open, staying on view all the way until the 22nd of November. The 56th International Art Exhibition is titled All the World’s Futures, and will feature 90 national participants exhibiting in the historical Pavilions at the Giardini, at the Arsenale, and in the city of Venice.
