CAC Málaga, in collaboration with the British Council, recently opened up the first solo exhibition in Spain from D*Face (interviewed). The London-based artist’s work was seen for the first time in Málaga in 2013 when he created an immense mural for the MAUS Project (covered) along with Shepard Fairey. Openings: Faile x BÄST – “Deluxx Fluxx Arcade” @ Brooklyn Museum

After sharing photos from the Savage/Sacred Young Minds showing at the Brooklyn Museum with you last week, we now have an additional look at the arcade installation there from Faile (featured) and their long time collaborator Bast. After previous iterations seen in places like New York, Miami, Scotland, and London, this immersive experience finally makes an appearance in museum form. Consisting of video games, pinball machines, and foosball tables, the entire interactive environment with signatures imagery are designed by the artists down to the actual games. Discuss Faile here.

Openings: FAILE – “Savage/Sacred Young Minds” @ Brooklyn Museum

Last month, the Brooklyn Museum welcomed in the locally based duo Faile (featured) for a solo show entitled Savage/Sacred Young Minds. The exhibition showed off a wide range of works from the Patrick’s including their  Temple project that first made its appearance for PortugalArte ‘10, prayer wheels, large scale paintings, and more pieces all influenced by “a wide variety of sources, including American quilts, folk and Native American art, religious architecture, pulp magazines, comic books, sci-fi movie posters, adult entertainment advertisements, and storefront typography.” Included was also a revival of the Deluxx Fluxx Arcade (more on this […]

Videos: Phlegm – “The Forest”

After flying all around the globe painting some of the biggest and most intricate murals around, Phlegm recently announced this unique project planned through the month of August. The Forest will be taking place around Epping forest, a twelve mile stretch of ancient English woods stretching from Wanstead flats up to Epping and will last from 1st until 31st of August. Streets: Hot Tea (Los Angeles)

A couple nights ago, under the cover of darkness, Hot Tea and a few friends placed one of his signature installations over the pedestrian bridge that spans the PCH close to Santa Monica Blvd. and Broadway. As previously mentioned, the Portuguese collective Underdogs is currently hosting a solo show from Ernest Zacharevic. The Lithuanian-born artist, whose street works around his hometown in Malaysia have become viral sensations and one of the favorite tourist attractions, recently spent few weeks in Lisbon, creating and finally installing and opening his solo show Floor is Lava. Showing: Snarkitecture / Daniel Arsham – “The Beach” @ National Building Museum

For those who have a chance to visit Washington DC through September 7th, make sure you stop by the National Building Museum to check out an immersive installation from Snarkitecture. Cofounders Alex Mustonen and Daniel Arsham have imagined up a beach with an ocean of 750,000 recyclable plastic balls. The monochromatic and minimalistic installation certainly mirrors the aesthetic seen in many of their previous projects and is certainly something visitors of all ages will enjoy.
