Releases: Escif – “Cesta Con Fruta” Print

On Monday, June 6th at 6PM CEST (12PM EDT), Escif will be releasing a new limited edtion via Elsewhere.es. The new lithograph is titled Cesta Con Fruta (Basket With Fruit) and will be released in an edition of 120 pieces. The image depicts a fruit basket, familiar image from classic art, with several grenades hidden among the grapes and apples. Victoria Miro in London is currently hosting a new exhibition by multidisciplinary artist Yayoi Kusama. Spanning the gallery’s three locations and waterside garden, the exhibition features new paintings, pumpkin sculptures, and immersive room experiences, all made especially for this showing. This is the artist’s most extensive exhibition at the gallery to date, and it is the first time mirror rooms have gone on view in London since Kusama’s major retrospective at Tate Modern in 2012. Upcoming: Jeremiah Ketner – “Nihon Dream” @ Rotofugi

On June 10th, a new solo show from Jeremiah Ketner (interviewed) entitled Nihon Dreams will be opening at Rotofugi in Chicago. The American artist will be returning to the city he called home before moving to Japan, bringing with him whimsical paintings featuring his female and animal characters. No doubt influenced by his interest in Japanese culture as well as his work with customizing toys, the work will be especially appreciated by the clientele that frequent the designer toy store and gallery. Hot Tea x Bon Iver @ Sydney Opera House

Last week, American indie folk band Bon Ivor performed at the Sydney Opera House under a large suspended installation by Hot Tea. The Minneapolis-based artist, known for his yarn-based work, created a stunning hanging installation that changed colors and imagery when viewed in conjunction with projection, a collaborative project entitled Circle. Upcoming: KAWS @ Galerie Perrotin (Seoul)

Coming up this weekend, KAWS will be presenting new works to his fans in Korea at Galerie Perrotin’s new outpost. The newly opened space (1F 5 PALPAN-GIL, JONGNO-GU) will be the setting for the New York-based artist’s first visit to Seoul City. Look for more paintings featuring his continually evolving abstractions of his favorite cartoon, comic, and pop culture inspired characters. The show runs from June 2nd to August 27th. Patrick Martinez’s recent works includes what he calls the Po-lice Misconduct Misprint series, a riff on the Pee Chee Folders of the ’70s and ’80s.
