Upcoming: Aaron Li-Hill x Soundwall Installation (New York)

Thursday night (6-9pm) in New York, Aaron Li-Hill (interviewed) will be unveiling a new installation at Soundwall entitled Resonance. Featuring the signature kinetic energy and geometric lines seen in the Brooklyn-based artist’s work (example above), the new piece is certainly something you want to see in person. Openings: Nick Walker – “Entropy” @ Above Second (Hong Kong)

Last week, Nick Walker (interviewed) opened his new show at Above Second Gallery entitled Entropy. If in September, we brought you a look while the Bristol-based street artist was creating new body of work in his studio, so we come full circle now with a look at the artwork hanging in the Hong Kong showspace. Included are his new series of number pieces as well as stencils inspired by the local urban landscape. Discuss Nick Walker here.

With this being the last week of the Invisible College group exhibition at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art, now would be a good time for a recap. Co-curated by Andrew and Shawn Hosner of Los Angeles’ Thinkspace Gallery and Josef Zimmerman from the museum, the title references the fact that many of the artists on the roster didn’t take a traditional art education path to where their careers are now. On October 1st, Spoke Art in San Francisco will be hosting the opening of Stranger, Stella Im Hultberg’s (interviewed) first solo in four years after spending some time to become a mother. For its inaugural exhibition opening on September 25th, Chandran Gallery has chosen to show all new works from Richard Colman collectively entitled Faces, Figures, Places and Things. On Thursday, September 24th, Galleria Patricia Armocida will be presenting a new solo exhibition by the Brazilian artist Finok entitled Sorrir e Chorar. For his Italian debut, Raphael Sagarra aka Finok prepared six medium-scale works on canvas and wood, fifteen drawings, five sculptures, and three site-specific installations based around the idea of duality, or two sides of the same coin. For the last several years, summer in Europe means a lot of street art festivals producing some amazing murals. This year, Brazilian twin brothers Os Gemeos are spending some time on the old continent, but taking a bit of a different route than majority. On October 10th (6-10pm), Flower Pepper Gallery in Old Town Pasadena will be presenting Randy Hage’s Façade. Last week, as part of the festivities surrounding the fifth annual ArtRua fair, held in the Centro Cultural Ação da Cidadania in Rio de Janeiro, local artists were invited in to paint some large panels for the fairgoers to enjoy. As one of the chosen artists, Titi Freak painted a man posed upside down with his usual style and technique and entitled it “A queda do ego” or “The fall of the ego.” Take a look at more photos below… Discuss Titi Freak here.
